Do any of you use a digital art controller thingy? Can you recommend one?

Tourboxes and Tabmates are super over priced
for just being extra shortcuts keys. Game controllers are much better alternatives since they do the same thing cheaper, come in different colors, and can be used for more than just art. 8bitdo's are really popular with artists. I have one of the larger Lite ones while most people use the mini or micro.

If you want to spend that much for a wheel you should just buy a new tablet that comes with one for the same price. It'd be more useful.

don't bother with the tourbox, I got one from ebay for $90 and I still wouldn't recommend it at that price. Get a cheap tenkeyless macropad from amazon that you can program the keys yourself. the tourbox is overpriced and barely performs better than my cheap $30 tenkey. The dials and wheels seem nice on paper but are really fickle and imprecise in practice. Button presses are also really mushy on the tourbox compared to a mech switch.

Depends on your budget, how many keys/dials/scroll wheels you want and how much space you have.
Cheapest option is to re-use a game controller you already have.
10-key pads are really cheap.
The specifically made ones for tablets are over priced and not really worth it unless you wanna splurge.
If you have the space, just a normal keyboard can work fine.
The Razer gaming keypads have a lot of keys and and quite comfortable.

Never ever get the express remote it's absolutely shit and most of that is to blame for the software. You really have to think about software as well as the hardware when it comes to macropads. I liked and used the razer orbweaver for a while but since it broke I had to switch to a tartarus and the new software was worse for example, they also don't have built in memory and I wouldn't have been able to use them with an ipad which I can do with this macropad

I've tried joycon, nostromo, and tourbox and by far tourbox is the best. It is expensive tho. I like its scroll wheel and 2 radial dials. It also feels more responsive.

Oof no thanks how's this different than just having my keyboard and mouse nearby?
My tablet has 8 programmable buttons on it, my pen has two - how many quick keys do you guys need?
these things seem like a waste of desk space and money?
Seems like having a mouse to scroll / zoom and then just using the built in keys would be the best option

i have a tabmate and it works better and more reliably than gesture and on screen controls on my ipad. i recently started using krita on my computer and i've been using the keyboard and it's not as bad as i always thought it was. i used to think a handheld remote was a must have regardless of platform but now i only think that way when using a tablet, and i've made my peace with keyboard shortcuts on the computer.

50 dollars here
https://www.keebmonkey.com/en-gb/products/megalodon-triple-knob-macro-pad?_pos=1&_sid=64d10cd07&_ss=r

And I don't have the space to use a regular keyboard which would be bulkier. If you want to use your keyboard then use your keyboard lol. I don't understand how or why you'd use your mouse too while drawing though. Also certain tablets don't have buttons like the wacom and ipad I have

For my iPad I use a 8bitdo zero 2. Works great. It's all you need, and for me it makes drawing while standing and holding a 12.9" tablet actually feasible.

For my desktop I use a belkin nostromo. They don't make them anymore, so the razer Tartarus would be the next best thing. Both of these are far cheaper than a tourbox.

Cheap one handed gamer keyboard with a barebones driver to replace the keys.
My brushes are on the numbers, side G keys control brush size and layer selection.
Clip Studio has rotation shortcuts, so WSAD is flip h/v and rotate +-15°.
Thumb controls lasso/deselect, and there's a bunch of other shortcuts too.

Mine was something like $30-40.
You can probably get something even cheaper, but the driver support is a limiting factor.
Don't bother getting a keyboard that doesn't let you change the buttons. You can do a lot with AutoHotKey, but differentiating inputs by specific keyboard is much more difficult than you'd think.

If you have a nintendo switch you already have a digital art controller, don’t fall for the fucking tourbox shit.

>> No.7510950

I’ll never understand people who needs to use dials to zoom/change brush size. Every major art program already has quicker more precise ways to adjust and zoom by literally holding a button and dragging with your pen.

I have the express remote. It works well until it does retarded shit. I love my cintiq when it works but goddamnit, for 2k I shouldn't have to be dealing with software and hardware issues like infinite scroll.

I like how it feels, the dial clicks are very satisfying.

That being said, the tourbox is very overpriced.
