Overload your senses, have two or three screens running shit you usually watch. And do your drawings on the side. Fool your brain into thinking that it is not missing anything. That's your problem, thinking that you're missing "something" and you're not "up to date". Most probably stupid bullshit.
Some say, "turn-off everything", "give yourself a dedicated time to draw"... Man fuck that, people today can't have the luxury to do that. Just can't. You can't turn off your phone. You have to be reachable nowadays. The only reasonable option is to go all out on the opposite direction, get the shit you think you "can't miss" on, have it on running in front of you. And draw. If you can get into listening to music, that's ideal, but it's a hard one, and acquired taste. I love music and I can't stop watching YouTube updates from my fave channels. Kill twitter, that's non-negotiable. Video Games, that the worst of all problems, fortunately I'm out of that shit. I ruined games for me thinking that they are just a bunch of files, jpg's, mp3, and text put together in sequence just to make me lose my time. That right there is psychology in action to help me with game addiction. You may have to come up with something like that as well.
If you can make drawing you number one addiction, above all other things, then you may have a chance to make it work.

Here's some things I noticed while I was linearting for a second time:
the hair bow was getting lost in the details, some of the black shadow lost its shape so I changed it a bit, i would focus on tapering your lines a bit more, try looking into altering the pen pressure on your brush if you haven't already and feel free to experiment for what works with you pressure sensitivity wise.

For your next sketches try drawing slower and using long continuous lines. 2 or 3 max per contour. Right now you're stuck in the bad habit of making sketchy seeking lines to cover for the fact that you can't actually make the right one. I drew this today between my classes. I tried to emulate a style i saw some guy on youtube drawing @paintlane and i noticed how confident and free he was about his strokes. He just started drawing with no sketches or guidelines. I tried to draw like him without thinking if what i was doings was right or wrong, i just did what i find it was cool, and in the end this experimentation brought me to this, a result that i liked and that made me look confortable to the final image, mainly due my process itself.

I'm more motivated to experiment new things such as coloring with color pencils (i've never colored until now) and learn more about the fundamentals, such as perspective (i'm procrastinating to read more of Perspective Made Easy).

Sorry for my blog but i hope this helps some artist who were in a situation like me. If it wasn't for /ic/ and other resources I would be stuck in the /beg/ phase for a longer time. Why do you say that? Drop the opacity on that one, open a new layer above, choose a simple brush pen with the stabilizer on (Dynamic Brush tool in Krita, or "smoothing" tool in PS, etc). And trace it, practice your lines, try to do long lines without breaking them, but break the line if you need so, just don't do a tangle of lines and knots, a gap in the line is better than that. Just keep it as simple and clean as you can. Don't delve in details, focus in the "bigger picture". Once you laid down the basic shape lines, you can go dropping details here and there, like a few wrinkles, etc. It is an exercise, it will help you to better your aim at stylizing shapes, and design ideas.
You did much of the heavy work already. Tune in your tools and you're set to make big gains from there.

Nice. This images reminds me what I learned recently that i've been doing wrong with my shoulders. These are pretty cool anon, you should try applying this perspective to a sketch for a character or something, if you draw something similar without being an exact copy it'll stick in your head

Would recommend drawing from human faces too, helps you learn how chibis are stylized to look cute

She's got a thousand yard stare
not a great fix for the hand but less sketchy than the original

draw what you want and practice fundamentals using subjects you want to draw. If I wanna draw human faces, perspective for buildings or machines wont be a priority. (but could still be useful)

Please post I like your work, but don't read/reply to crabs lol

Part of it is just the design of the character, he seems like a soldier, not really meant to look attractive

neck is a bit short

picasso what are you doin? (having fun is good tho)

you must be 18 years or older to use this website. Please leave. Also nice drawing, you're off to a good start, keep exploring inspirations/nature. Guidelines are helpful to be on model but for nature scenes they aren't needed.

1: for shading white, depends on the light source, if you're outside under blue sky use blue, or depends on what colors you have available.

2: For poses/gestures it doesn't matter what you use, you just need to capture the feeling/weight of the pose/character, It comes with mileage. The idea is to be able to quickly put down a concept to paper, something solid that you can build on for a finished piece.

ayy lmao

flaw? you mean other than the fact you're drawing little boys? I'de say the pose is a bit weightless, forearms are too short.

>what are the fundamentals
Depends on what you're doing but I'll go with form, perspective, anatomy, composition, lighting, and colour. If you're doing illustration then lineart is one as well and there are other fundamentals for other mediums as well.
>why do I need to grind boxes
You don't NEED to do anything, but you will have to grind something, learning any skill is just grinding. Boxes are a method for understanding form and perspective, this is because they're a simple even sided 3D shape that most things can be broken down to.

I didn't get to draw anything but shitty doodles today.
I want to kill every single fucking NEET and brat I know who gets to art on their parents' dime.

>> No.7196354

You wouldn't want to live as a NEET. Parents don't spend a dime on those damned creatures. That's the point of the NEET. He's a maggot, crawling on the floor hiding, screeching in a silent prayer: "I'm not a burden for this house, I don't need anything, I don't need clothes, I don't need a bathroom , I don't need food, I'll stay in this corner, you won't ever see me, so please don't throw me out there"... So their parents turn their faces away in disgust and disappointment, and go on with their life without even knowing they have a person around. A normal son would mean they to spend more money, on gifts to grandsons that will never exist, on outings, on family reunions, events, family travels... That will never happen. Don't ever envy a NEET, you don't want to be that. That ain't no life.

And NEETing it out with a clear purpose beats being wagecattle who can only afford a couple hours of drawing during the weekdays while being tired as shit.

I'm not sure, but something like this is how it is more likely to happen. I'm conflicted because, on one hand, you could be wild with colors. I do not want to forbid you, but it is more coherent if it is somewhat based on reality.
It is a cool series, but maybe watch something about light. Maybe .

>living on gibs
Who the fuck lives on "gibs" really? I keep hearing that shit in this site only. IRL I only see old people getting food from the local church. The real "gib" is alimony, there's no other gib. Real people won't pay shit with some food money throw at them by government.
But yeah, a disciplined NEET who can make something out of being a no life cockroach can beat a wage life. Depends on people, some people are born to live life, get drunk, fuck bitches, getting to know people, travel, you need money to do that. NEETs are living insects. People in prison say that being in jail is worse than death. So that's that.

i'm about to start drawing again
i actually went to art university, got incredibly disappointed by 90% of the professors and classes they taught (duchamp and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race), but i did stick around enough to get a job at a marketing company, where i did webdesign, eventually becoming chief of my department which led me to get a corporate job on another company that does not involve art at all
i want to get back to do what i love, so i'm in the process of hooking up my old huion tablet to delve into it again
how do i come back to it again? any books to brush up on the basics?
picrel is an old wip for a uni project i found on my phone

>> No.7196377

Quick question, I'm stuck on the very first step of practicing lines, as page-length ones are just killing me. I intend to draw on a tablet so I'm practicing on it, but the problem is that it's sticky as shit and any lines long enough to warrant sliding my wrist on the tab come out retarded, as my hand momentarily gets stuck on the surface and then moves in bursts as force is applied, which makes ugly squigs. I wiped the tab clean with wet tissues many times, and I wash my hands all the time. Do I really need a silly glove for this? I tried placing a piece of paper too but it too gets stuck for some reason. Am I applying too much force on my wrist? Am I even supposed to slide my wrist on the surface for longer lines, as opposed to hovering above the surface? Help.

>> No.7196378

use your shoulder for long lines
also, get a glove

other one insect too, just with a mushroom on a head making him run around and do pointless stuff for shroom benefit

>> No.7196398

Thanks for the advice. I just tried using my shoulder for a few minutes and it's really tough, but I guess it's workable and could be more stable than "burst firing" with the wrist with practice. I'll look into getting a glove too, then. Thanks!

>> No.7196402

>I just tried using my shoulder for a few minutes and it's really tough,
are you working on a flat table?
try using an inclined table or tablet if you can, it will really help with the shoulder movements

>> No.7196405

I am. I do have a little adjustable table thingie I could try using, I'll see if it helps. Thanks again!

Ilegal immigrants, autismbux and colored people get fucktons of money from american welfare state.

>> No.7196830

That's perfectly fine.
>colored people
America's black problem goes way beyond "gibs". The problem with blacks is that america just doesn't want them. You don't want a nigger attending your store, or marrying your daughter, or near your community-neighbourhood. They don't "live a life on gibs", they just are in a social limbo. Not part of the system, not part of "life".
>Ilegal immigrants
Those are actually the hardest workers in america. They work three times as hard as the average american citizen because the illegals have no security, no gov help, no trade union. They are the only ones making it raw by their own.

This is way america is doomed, people don't even know what the fuck are they talking about. There are no "GIBS" in america. And that's why it is a dumpster on fire. Chinese are investing TRILLIONS on their people, that builds a strong nation from the roots. We are crumbling, in our own idiotic thinking, "no more 'gibs' ", "no more heath care", "no more education", "no more labour rights", and one day we won't have a nation no more.
