I think if you tone down the intensity it'll do you wonders. I hope I'm not overstepping bounds with a suggestion, but maybe take a few of panels to show him getting up, her reaction being confused or ashamed about to pull away, then he pulls her in for the kiss in the catbox page?

Definitely not, I got additional feedback from another board and I also had to explain the intent behind the panel, so there has to be some kind of change. It seems clear that most people will not get it in the current state.
As for your suggestion, I kinda want him to do it apruptly to set a contrast in relation to the rest of the comic, where anon is just overall really passive, so I'll have to convey it in a single panel. And also because I'm too lazy.
And don't feel bad for suggestin stuff. It just shows that you care, which is cool.

Latin-coded Pokemon fanart is usually when it’s stylistically eastern-inspired while still being slightly off-model for western appeal, kind of an intermediate Asian-apprentice level above white professionals on the grounds of being more soulful. It’s anime with the a purposeful and healthy dose of just the right amount of Americana for appeal, which sets it apart from white artists continuously fucking up sauceless anime girls with boring linework and stiff poses

I see your art around, and I like it. Very old school, If i remember correctly you're a bit of an older guy so it makes sense.

If I could give you some genuine, really honest advice that I think would help you: Focus more on the underlying shape of things.

I remember when I got really into Robert Crumb, I learned about his brother Charles Crumb. His brother was an artist as well, but eventually his cartoons slowly devolved into nothing but a billion tiny lines covering the page while his brother Robert went on to immense success. He had a compulsive disorder known as graphomania. At the time, I was also very interested in hatching and crosshatching and decided after learning about this that I would not let my mental state decline into the compulsive drawing of tiny lines (as i was headed in that direction), and my art improved immensely. I'm not trying to dissuade you from your art style, I just want to bring this to your attention since it was something that I struggled with myself. Pic related, me about 4 years ago

Excellent picture. I am heading into that direction, and you might find some of my influences useful for grasping the effects of textures for carving a 3d space:

Edward Gorey,Gerhard,Vaughn Bode, S Clay Wilson, and the rest of the Zap Comics crowd. Before Covid, I was writing a story over a decade, at first rough storyboard strips that grew more elaborate once I embraced the reality of not being near a computer to create the comics that I planned on. I had Covid devour my domain name and hosting,and I was too depressed to draw for two years, until some customer changed the history of the world by dropping the bag of marijuana that I smoked and was set afire with the urge to Make Stuff again. And I was resolved to appreciate anything that made it to paper after so long a stagnation. And my style had mutated,and even now I am surprised by what appears under my pen. This is a recent drawing, a week old or so,a distraction from the project still being composed after 20 hours in. I am trying to fathom the Way of Dripping Eyes, and how to portray a 3d space with essentially spheres in oozing pudding with differentiation for distances. And this picture is another stab at Head Hair on Fur,and he has reddish hair,so a degree of darkening is tossed in the mix. I am eventually going to generate a suitable design for a new tshirt, simple black ink on a white shirt,but for now its more studies, more experiments, more learning.

thank you, that is a very kind thing to hear. must be like 12-13 years by now. it would take me ages to explain my methods. i started normally enough, but changed radically after a philosophical discovery. the best advice I can give you without investing pages and pages of text explaining a literal ideology, is:

1: learn how to draw without using any guidelines, or at least you should use a minimal amount. It makes things a surprising amount less cumbersome and much more clean, which if you didn't know, its actually very useful to be clean, (doubly so for hands). Another thing is it means you can basically just skip straight to lineart, which means your ""lineart"" will have the same soul sketches have because they're actually just clean sketches. It also helps you to avoid certain bad mindsets (collecting guidelines, trying to explain everything rationally, instead of just eyeballing stuff where it feels like it should go for everything, which is actually much easier and looks much better.)

2: learn to draw comfortably without using any references. As far as im concerned, if you don't know how to draw something without a reference, you never learned how to draw that thing in the first place. Reference is a crutch that fills missing gaps in knowledge, without actually learning anything. You literally cannot draw something from memory unless you know it, it literally forces you to understand the object; its also deeply practical, as you naturally have to find some process for drawing it. Also, it kind of just magically works really well, other memory friends can attest to this. Of course, reference is essential in the beginning when are starting out, but it doesn't take long before it stops being useful and you are wasting your time with it, barely getting any value from it. Drawing from memory sounds spooky, but it is so unbelievably useful, i simply recommend becoming brave, and doing it when you feel ready.

All were drawn without refs or guidelines.

I host weekly gesture sessions on a certain server and me n the boys are trying to think of alternative group events we can do that are more creative in nature. I was thinking hosting a sort of weekly "art-challenge" show would be good for both the server as well as my own productivity

It's not a Shinto deity, it's a fucking dakini (a daka, technically) from the Indo-Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The color of white is going to be defined more by bounce light and shading than anything else. Which is to say, the base color should still be white or beige or whatever you're working with. The contrast is created through the background and values.

Black is a little trickier to make look good, even though it follows the same principles. I mean, so does any color, really, it's just especially noticeable with those colors. If you ever want to emphasize a flat white color, for example, just make the background a darker shade. Doesn't have to be by much.
Of course, studying or doing studies of the types of environments and colors you want to emulate would be a good thing to do. Take snow or clouds, for example, which can appear a near-perfect white in bright light; you can see their form defined almost entirely by those shadows, which often reflect a pretty blue on a clear day. As for black, panthers are a good subject to study for black fur. It can get pretty complicated though and it's definitely beyond my ability to explain.

I agree with other anon that whites are more affected by surrounding light sources. As for myself I try to stay away from pure white or black as a base color and instead try to "imply" them by using light or dark colors, usually so their fur can better blend with their color scheme or outfit scheme. Specifically for whites I just use a light color and for blacks I use grayish or dark saturated colors, but not so dark that it becomes hard to see the line work.

I do have to point out that this is purely a stylistic choice of mine.
