I agree, it's a very uncreative use of the AI, and given that's it a competition about creativity, it's a very poor winning choice (AI or no).

It's still got many AI problems (short clips, things just morphing into eachother), but there was some sort of effort outside of "whoah music instruments for music video"... This competition winner is just such a lazy music video, even for AI.

so it's hard to say if this was any sort of message about AI, or if they simply thought it looked cool while not understanding the tech, or what.

The biggest problem is that AI makes it inorganic while also stealing the work of those in the industry to make it happen. They aren't being blamed, just used as an example of what will happen thanks to AI in creative industries, and yeah, capitalism will take good advantage of them. That will be brought up a lot, get used to it.
