Complex shapes are always going to be hard and even /pro/s won’t try to capture every contour of a tree and its leaves because it’s just too much and not worth the time/effort since your brain will fill in the details anyway when looking at a simplified picture that hints at the detail. You just have to practice simplifying complex shapes into simpler ones. It might help if you squint or unfocus your eyes and try to visualize the frame of the canvas around the object so you can see the large shapes and measure their proportions. Anyway don’t get discouraged. It’s something you have to experiment with and practice since there’s no one correct way to simplify and the way you end up simplifying things will be a part of your style. You can try looking at how other people do it for ideas but experimenting and trying something new each time is what’s important.

Also I wanted the horns to look like the fused horns of a black wildebeest but with a central horn in the middle, I think it looks a little off and more like a forehead plate than a horn.

For digitigrade legs as well, should the first leg joint be higher up? I think it looks a little low placing it at about human knee height.

Any other advice is welcome too.

At your level I'd suggest limiting yourself to a tool that doesn't make you worry about line weight. It keeps you honest and helps you focus on WHAT you're drawing, rather than HOW.

Have intelligence and self-awareness. Try to objectively analyze your work. Listen to critique to at least some degree. Have a desire to improve. Know your weaknesses and address them. This requires going out of your comfort zone as you will become more comfortable with what your are good at which can be a harmful feedback loop of stagnation. Be honest with yourself about what you need to work on. Learn from experts. Draw from life, from pictures, and from imagination. Whichever you do the least, do more, do all. Challenge yourself. Stay consistent. Like someone who has lifted weights/worked out for years, they will know their body’s limits and know when it is nearing overtraining. They know in that case, it will be best to lighten the weight/volume for a bit so the central nervous system, the body can recover. It’s important to practice discipline and push through times you don’t want to draw, but also important to not burn out and lose momentum. Keep your eye on the prize. Since improvement is its own reward, the prize is a perpetual direct result of the true work you put in. What a divine formula creation is.

Don’t draw without thinking or studying. If you have trouble drawing something go study and observe it. If you still have trouble with it after that you’re missing some sort of fundamental skill that would allow you to understand it on a deeper level and that’s when you should consider studying fundies. Honestly the biggest issue there at your level is her torso is completely squashed, like if you were to imagine or draw over it the ribcage and pelvis they are essentially overlapping, with no space for the stomach area. Even if you gonna draw anime/loli/chibi styles, it's worth to learn a bit about general body proportions and landmarks, and get that right first before adding color and detail.

How do you know when you should give up because drawing isn't for you? I love looking at amazing artwork and wish I could make my own and I'm always coming up with ideas of things I'd love to draw, but actually drawing makes me sick to my stomach and I just don't think my brain is wired correctly for it. Imo your jaw is too sharp and the cushy lids under her eyes look unnatural and in contrast to your reference pics. Also make sure the eye shape is actively implied. In your references they don’t use full outlines for the eyes but the whole shape is shown. In your drawing the shape ends at the lower eye. I think if you want those cushy shapes like the one under her eye, maybe the mouth would be a good place, but it’s up to you. A lot of “cuteness” is centered in the eyes and a feminine head shape, so try putting emphasis on those.

Look at the proportions on the ref head and face, his is actually closer than yours. Having an overly large face is considered unattractive so if you want big eyes they need to be big relative to the other face parts but everything should still be somewhat small relative to the head. Using the knowledge from construction and perspective, start studying anatomy.
And after that only I hope to git gud with painting (rendering), color and light, stylization, etc.

but seriously, look at some photos of how black women look, identify their defining features compared to your average yt woman and then try to stylize those features to your style
unless you're copying someone else's style you HAVE to look to real life references even when drawing animu
we can't tell you exactly what to draw where because we don't know your style and it's limitations so you have to figure it out for yourself
