AI art functions on plagiarism so I'm against it being used for commercial purposes but by itself it's ok although just like with other ai stuff there's a lot of weird moments when using it and you need to be patient with it if you want a good outcome. Personally too much for myself to bother with as i prefer actually drawing and painting but i have some ai generated images in my inspiration folder so there's that.

me too. something about letting go of representational polished digital render-faggotry (AI reveals the sterility of all that & can have that lane) and just embracing one's own craft and style and vision.
also observing fandoms—comic & manga fans still talk about artists, everyone has their favorites and hyper-obsess about them down to their personal lives etc.

It happened to me too!
I bought a Wacom and started learning to draw myself after I played around with an AI and got this creature genned. I felt the urge to possess this design, to give it to life and make it of my own.
The irony is that my job is AI related itself. So, I discovered drawing as a nice hobby to relax myself

... I'm still far away from being able to draw her though.

nah, AI pics suck for the most part. aesthetically I just don't vibe with them. they do make me want to draw more, seeking a more soulful raw vibe like KJG or older comic artists to counter-signal the AI onslaught.
Been watching a lot of Cartoonist Kayfabe and dig old hand drawn aesthetic—pen, ink, hand-lettering, even screens and dot tone of old comics and manga.
