proko is a resource for anatomy, not drawing stylized stuff
would you open an algebra book and expect to learn chemistry?

>> No.7113085

>>7112840
No, he actually said once that he regretted having started with anatomy instead of a basic drawing course.

>> No.7113096

Algebra is strongly linked with chemical equations, you would know this if you weren't a brain dead blond female whose only purpose is to be a miserable coom bucket

>uber complex
I wouldn't say his anatomy stuff is uber complex, or at least not what he posts on YouTube. In fact I'd say it's the opposite. It's an easily digestible explanation of skeletal structure and visible muscles. Even if you just draw along and take notes on his free videos, do the free exercises, and try to commit things to memory, you'll probably walk away with a passable basic knowledge of anatomy sufficient to start drawing anime characters.
The thing about studying anatomy isn't that you become a walking textbook, it's so that you can better digest and regurgitate what you see when you're doing studies, because you have a basic framework of understanding. But yes, drawing what you see and simply being comfortable drawing comes before trying to learn anything more complex.

I wouldn't say they're universally better, but there are probably a larger volume of skilled late millennial/gen z artists because they grew up in an online culture where art skill is used as a social currency.

>> No.7113386

>>7113340
Well yes but not in the sense you have to do a quasi medical online slop course in order to have a gist of it as Porky suggests.
You just need references or if you are lazy (or smart) you could just use 3D

>> No.7113406

>>7113386
It depends on the person. Some people can just internalize the form from sighting along, some people are helped by having seen muscle diagrams, others still are helped by being able to specifically name the muscles. And I will say, if you really know the muscles, you're less likely to fuck things up when drawing a figure.

proko has never said learning anatomy is a requirement to draw the things you want
if you are interested in how parts of the body works in relation to art then his resource is available. thats a good thing
Here's something that might be a shocker to you. some people actually like to learn things.
your attitude isn't something to be proud of, its fault in your character

>> No.7113473

Maybe. But he actually said in one of his podcasts with Vandruff that he thought you shouldn't start with anatomy, you should save detailed anatomy study until AFTER you can already draw.

The names literally tell you what the muscles are if you know the word roots so it’s easy to remember both the name and where it’s located. It’s two ways of remembering the same thing, better than just one.

>> No.7113504

>>7113499
And I don't know if people remember things how I do, but if I have a clear name associated with something, it helps me better conjure up an image of the thing. And you might as well use the common names, because it helps you more easily communicate with others.
