Why begs think better artists are gatekeeping knowledge? i find funny how they start to get "PSD's files" and "process videos" from their fav artists but they never aplly what they see or spend an honest hour understanding those things.

It gets worst when they literally start to search for any excuse like "oh is because their brushes have this very specific form/shape", "my tablet is entry level", "listen they use photoshop and that software is for autists"

Why are people that cleary sucks at drawing so obsess with the secret formula?

I imagine a kid mashing buttons in a fighting game and complaining they arent as good as the EVO champions because they have something that they dont

>> No.7064967

it takes a lot of energy to develop your brain and when you lack the pathways for basic shit like understanding form, you literally have nowhere to focus your small amount of focus so it dissipates very quickly

you need tons of calm meditation to start really getting hang of things

same thing for all hobbies or skills in general. a lot of trad artists annoyed kim jung gi about what exact brush pen he uses and he was like "iunno, it's this one", and a bunch go to great lengths to track down the exact pencils drawtards on instagram use. it's the cope of wanting to buy your way to a skill, thinking that better tools will mean you'll need less practice

kind of sad

I personally believe the world has been conditioned to believe that art is purely a creative process and ignore the skill/work necessary to put any of that creativity to actual use. So you have grown adults that refuse to believe they have to put actual effort into art because they were told the opposite as a kid or become art hoes that vomit blood onto canvas because "everything is art."

yeah there's definitely some cognitive dissonance when it comes to draftsmanship and how so many just completely half ass it even though it's literally the core that enables a finished piece of artwork

no matter what you do if the fundamental perspective and form is shit then the result is shit

jim keller a CPU designer somehow is a big motivator for me, though it's more like he gives off an aura of looking at problems rationally and then going for solutions step by step instead of doubting and coping

all in all just extremely intelligent and rational, able to recognize underlying problems that need to be solved in order for a thing to happen and then being smart enough to actually understand that it's the path to take or it won't happen period

why should he? experiment if you need it, but you don't need all those layer modes anyway

Most likely it's people with more of an engineering mindset. I know I usually learn by taking things apart and figuring out how to put them back together. It's a lot harder to do that with a finished piece of artwork though. Looking over a PSD and a process video is the closest I can get to dissecting a piece of artwork and figuring out how it works.

Met the dude when i was in culinary school, he came to visit and showed us some of his skills. He was a master at making sushi, but you could get similar skills from a decent sushi place that sells single servings.
>remember, you do not need to be a fucking jap to master sushi making.

He is big in quality ingredients, but not many people can afford the stuff he buys and expect a profit. It is mainly just hype created by the documentry.

>>7064984
I find irl to be the best motivator. Those kinds of people are all around you if you look, they don't post online. They just focus on their stuff. Top of my head i know a guy who made a killing machining custom car parts, top quality stuff that took him years to master. I have a few women in my life, one who works with group home indivuals(disability mainly) and is able to turn a kid who was a lost cause/behaviour prone individual into a happy, social, and genuinly pleasant person to be around. Some of them went from fully dependant to living on their own.
Other woman was a chef i had, ran a brigade style kitchen. I was used to men in the role and abuse was common/expected. She was a lot different, she was the kind of individual you you would listen to out of respect more so than anything. She never shouted or cussed out those workigg under her, her critisisms were said in a way that made you feel like you did something right, but gave you areas that should be improved on for next time, she was always willing to jump in to help when certain areas became overwelmed no matter what role, as every role to her was just as crucial as hers. And she never ever complained, always being positive and pumping us up even during the worst rushes.

Online i would say i really like dolly parton and her life. Just an overly kind, genuine and postive individual who sees the best in everyone

It's hard to engage in any effective problem solving when I'm stuck trying to invent the skill out of nothing. I don't have a functional process, my definition of what drawing is and what it entails is probably completely wrong, and I can never picture what a drawing of any given subject might look like. It's hard to even identify mistakes in this situation, much less come up with a way to address them.

>>7065068
All that taught me is how to get slightly better at copying drawings, which I found pretty simple to begin with, and that painting is easier than drawing.
