Just draw(what you want) everyday is good advice. if you are having a good time, you are doing better than a master who is so tormented by the shading on the upper lip that he burns all his paintings in a rage and then kills himself, but not before going on a naked rampage through his small town ripping up peoples mailboxes.

"just draw" is the specific but equivalent non-answer as "I don't know what to tell you"
it doesn't answer specific questions that people may have or even encourage people to actually learn how to enjoy the process of learning to draw because most will interpret it as "oh it's like working out if I just grind more I'll get there eventually" which inevitably leads to frustration and burnout
A better non-specific response could be something like "learn to break things down to their most basic shapes" or "study how structures and rhythms relate to one another" with a recommendation for a tutorial or book added on, the point is to give people the tools to help themselves and "just draw" is a non-committal response that pisses me off to no end

anatomy/pose? not really, they can't show how muscles change their shape when they're engaged or relaxed, nor natural tilts of the main masses (hips/torso)
light? also not very useful, you can get the 'correct' idea of how light interacts with plastic, but that's usually not what illustrators portray in their paintings

Not great, not terrible. But that’s okay. Just keep going. Do it again and again, from reference. Focus on observational drawing at first, getting good at drawing what you see. Those lines look like they’re placed with careful and deliberate attention, which is great, and a habit you want to maintain. That said, don’t worry too much about getting each individual thing you do right. It’s more important in the early stages to draw a lot and keep moving on. Why not try drawing from the reference image you linked to?
>>7064235
I mean that you need to stop trying to get each figure careful and correct, and instead just draw a shitload of them. You will be helped by increasing the volume of quick sketches you do, and not by studying harder. Just take the drawing to the stage where the gesture and basic volumes are plotted out and the landmarks are identified. Like at the level of finish of Hampton’s gestures. Stop trying to do anatomy and hatching and obsessing over any one pose. I think you’re at the point where using 3 minute or 5 minute timer for each pose and then moving on will actually help you a lot. Do a couple hundred of them.

Also I hope you’re okay and didn’t actually almost die.

Thanks

As to why I didn't draw from that reference image, I wanted to try posing as well.

However I think that's going a bit too fast too quick. I think I'll work on drawing from reference for figures for a bit until I can get more comfortable drawing them.

I mean it's good that you didn't trace the photo, but it's not really a good resemblence of her. it is a good exercise to do that, but you need more practice.
when i draw from life or from a photo reference, i don't do grids or anything, as i hate erasing them, it never works. i will try to squint and regard the hair, face, neck as huge flat surfaces and roughly measure their relation to each other just from looking. it's never going to be 100% spot on, but the more you do that, the better you get.

Athanasius Kircher said that in Coptic Egypt it was Κλαρια (Klaria), the Bestia seu Statio Typhonis (the Power of Darkness). Jérôme Lalande identified this with Anubis, one of the Egyptian divinities commonly associated with Sirius
Its common name means "southern donkey".[1] The star also holds a record for the longest name, "Arkushanangarushashutu," derived from ancient Babylonian language, which translates to "the southeast star in the Crab."
The ancient Chinese interpreted the object as a ghost or demon riding in a carriage, calling it a "cloud of pollen blown from under willow catkins."
officially named Sheratan /ˈʃɛrətæn/,[12][13] is a star system and the second-brightest star in the constellation of Aries, marking the ram's second horn.
In Hindu astrology, Gamma Arietis and Beta Arietis (Sheratan) are Ashvins, the twin Rigvedic deities who act as doctors of the divine of the world
In astrology, Denebola was believed to portend misfortune and disgrace.

i hope this can help you understand, i've traced over the silhouette and some of the major interior lines of your drawing and a drawing i found on pixiv. even with just these outlines, it's easy to imagine the 3d forms of the legs and arm in the pixiv picture, but it's harder for yours. why?
- the C curves in the line of the dress as it passes over her legs gives the impression of cylinders in perspective. this happens for the outline of the dress passing over the armpit too.
- the forearm is foreshortened properly.
- although the breast outlines seem reasonable, the overalls strap is drawn in a way that doesn't interact with the size and curvature of the breasts at all, it's flat.
- i cba to trace over the hair and face lines, but you'll find that the 3-dimensionality of your head and hair is also much lower.
you can try doing this for photos of boxes and spheres too, trace the outline and see if your mind can feel a 3d object that could have that outline.
