What precisely is it about the OG One Piece art style that's more "appealing" than the modern One Piece art style? Oda is definitely more technically proficient now than he was 15 to 20 years ag, but his new work just doesn't hit the same as his old work did; not even his detailed color spreads.

Best way I can describe it is because the latter feels newer and cleaner, while the former feels older albeit nostalgic. The difference and evolution of style makes the former art style associated with old one piece when the direction of the story was different from newer one piece.

An analogy I could make would be taking a photo with an old polaroid camera vs a smartphone or something like that. The former reminds us and takes us back to a different era.
