Who is Lava, I've been googling LAS, lava, etc. Can't find a single trace that the website even existed (I know it did) apart from the discord server, nevermind who created it and if they're alive. I joined back in the LAS days but wasn't in the discord, hung out in BondageFairy's streams instead, so I don't know much about Lava. I joined the LAS server after we switched to Dad.

I think the first itteration of LAS started off as a deviantart group, that lead to the creation of the discord group created by Niche and Lavaflake created the website after that. There were a few itterations of LAS websites (one made by w and another by some other guy, I think) after Lava's, till Banana took over and we've had DAD for the past... 4-5 years now? Jesus that's long. Correct me if I'm wrong.

your color choice is good but you are playing it a bit safe with values and saturation. Try converting the image to greyscale and you'll see that everything looks kind of samey. Push those values!
Like you said this is jsut flats. Adding shading/highlights/gradients will help things pop more. You have the opportunity for lots of fun shading and highlight shapes on the armor and skin.

Lava was the original founder and made the first site, niche made the discord and Lava didn't have anything to do with it, I don't think he ever joined

I hate the way DAD shoves streaks in your face. Whenever you look at someone's profile the first thing you see is their streak count, and on the homepage you are constantly being reminded to submit or else you'll lose your streak. I especially dislike the deadline reminder because when it tells me that I am safe, it falsely reassures me and diminishes my motivation to draw. Like I understand that streaks keep this website alive (DAD will lose its entire userbase within 15 hours if streaks are removed), but I wish there was a zen mode, similar to what chess websites offer to hide ELO ratings, that could remove these distractions.

But I don't need the admin to do anything, the problem is straightforward enough that a few uBlock filters can easily solve it. So these filters will hide all mentions of streaks (level up, elimination, streak count under avatar) and deadline (timers and reminder for all challenges on homepage and submission). This solution is effective to the point that I won't even realize if I lose my streak.

Problem with that is that then I'll be tempted to keep checking out dad every 5 minutes to see if I'll get more, thinking up a proper response (saying just "thanks" is something one does after getting unwanted/bad critique and you know that, so to show that I'm actually thankful and not just polite I should say more, maybe even start a bit of small talk), looking you up to see how good you are (as complete beginner are more easily impressed, devaluating the compliment slightly), going through your submissions to see if I can return the favour and wondering if I should and then looking forward to your reply (which possibly will force me to write another reply in response).

Isolating myself maybe isn't as... nice as interacting with others.

I was the same way for a long ass time because there's so much you have to learn and it seems daunting when you look at everything as a beginner. Thing is, that's waaaaay outside your scope. You're not some art savant who will get everything perfect immediately, so don't put such an unrealistic standard on yourself. Before becoming good, try having fun first. Seriously, let go of any expectations of yourself and just try drawing something you think is cool or you enjoy. You don't need to be detailed, or even good, just doodle and put time on the paper. By drawing every day, even for 30 minutes, you start making it a habit and you'll figure out what you like to draw most. When you start investing time into it, you'll naturally want to get better and you'll start seeing what you need to work on. Don't think of it as a hurdle, but a new skill you can permanently acquire. Also, take it in small chunks and focus on doing one thing better next time. It's called an art journey for a reason and you're making your first steps, but no one else can draw for you. Good luck, anon.

I actually think that's what you should do, to an extent. A lot of people get into art because they see something they find cool and want to do something like it. I got into art because I liked how Pokemon and Link looked as a kid, so I just directly redrew them from whatever magazine/picture I had on me at the time.
Give having fun with art priority, I think that's what makes it stick. I'm sure sure the Charmanders and Togepis I drew back then sucked ass, but that wasn't not the point of drawing them. You can learn the fundamentals as you go.

honestly, I have always sucked ass at figures unless I take my sweet time, which is admittedly way too long. I can't do gestures or timed figures well at all. I don't know what to draw or focus on and I even freeze up because there's so much info. It absolutely blows my mind seeing people do really good figs in just under 5 minutes when I have a rough time going under 30+ minutes for the same quality. No matter how much advice is given, books read, or different techniques tried, nothing seems to click for me.

Tub and Tonk are great siblings, but the facade we've come to know had masked a tragic backstory. In the previous chapter, it's revealed that Tub's parents were killed. How exactly hasn't been revealed yet (please help me find the artist). Anyhow, in this chapter we come to find that not all is fun and games between the two. It's revealed that Tonk has had a history of smoking and alcohol intoxication behind the scenes. Tub has tried to stop him but Tonk is incessant. It's quickly gathered that the bloody scene Tonk saw that day left him traumatized and shook. He has constant flashbacks and only cigarettes and alcohol can distract his mind. We've come to find that Tub had managed to convince Tonk to put the cigarettes down, but this wasn't meant to last.
One day Tub went outside and smelled the all to familiar scent of cigarette smoke. She stomped towards the source, knowing all too well Tonk was behind the source. He had given in to his addiction once more.
She walks into the building. There's a black and white checkered floor, and right at the end is Tonk, sitting hunched over smoking a cigarette. Tub is vastly dissapointed but not sruprised and asks if he's smoking, if he has given into his addiction once more. But Tonk immediately shakes his head. "What's he thinking, sigh...", thinks tub. Obviously Tonk is smoking, why is he lying?
But Tonk wasn't lying. Surely he was smoking but he was not trying to hide anything. And he points at the door. The door behind Tub was open as far as she remembered, why is it closed now!

She looks back at Tonk and he has an odd grin. He stands up and begins walking towards her. She runs towards teh door but realizes it's locked. IT WAS A TRAP! He keeps walking and she can't help but notice his eyes. He's carrying a blank expression, his eyes hollow and devoid of light. It's as if he's in his own mind. All these years of enduring the torment of what he had seen that day have been eating at him. And it was the distraction of the cigarettes and alcohol that kept him sane. Yes they were harmful to him, but they kept back the beast that post an even greater threat. Tub meant well, anybody would've done the same. Anybody would've thought they were helping Tonk to relieve him of his self destructive addiction, but it was a foolish endeavor. Tonk had finally snapped. And this time, the source of his pain was there in front of him, trapped in outbuilding with nowhere to go. It's just her, him and this cigarrette, and a day to concentrate all those years of torment into.

It no longer involved our characters Tonk and Tub. So what happened to tub, if she survived or escaped, we won't know until he comes back...

It's been speculated that this giant bug is Tonkers, however most likely its just a one off character. However, that's not to say that it doesn't reveal information about the true ending of Tonkventures.
The meaning of the insect is unknown, whoever what's interesting is the word he uses at the end "Kafkaesque".
Surely nobody reading this comic has ever heard of that word, so it seems this comic is not meant for the regular reader. An odd choice for a first comic of a new series. Therefore this enigmatic comic must be targeted towards the inquisitive few. Those who will try to decipher its meaning and thus our first clue that this MUST be an explanation to Tonkeventures abrupt end.
When we google Kafkaesque, we're shown it it alludes to the qualities of the writer Kafka, who's fictional worlds are oppressive and nightmarish. Surely this does not bode well for those who wanted a happy ending to Tub, but perhaps not so. The bug is clearly happy. And when we reread bug comic we find that it's a character who awoke in a new form. Perhaps, maybe, probably, this means that Tub did survive, but that the event's that occured had changed her mind into something ugliers, but pleasant. So it could be that she learned to fight back, but that could only be done if she abandoned her meek and innocent behavior. But she's become a different person, but one where she's finally able to stand up for herself and survive. Maybe that's why the artist chose a cockroach.
Cockroaches are synonymous with being able to survive the worst disasters.
And maybe it too is not just chance that the artist also abandoned his new series with just one comic having been published. The fact he shifted from TonkVentures to Regular adventures tells us that yes, Tub had finally managed to make a new life for herself. And perhaps, the artist too. Maybe his message was that people deserve to start over. End one chapter of their life to start another. And that must be what happed to the artist.

"Eugh!", The pain was unbearable. he immediately sat up and squeezed the left side of his abdomen, gritting his teeth. "Ahh!!" He stood up to look for help but everything around him was an infinitely white environment. Still wincing, gritting and moaning in pain he began walking to anywhere. The pain was slowly expanding its way out, but he didn't want to think how far it would go, the present was painful enough. He wished he felt fine, what he wouldn't have given. So he decided to investigate the source of his pain. He lifted up his shirt with such a tight grip from the pain that he tore off a white bandage placed on the site. The skin on the site was of such a pale white he was shocked, but as alarming was a red stream of blood that ran down from a puncture in his skin, running down his abdomen and falling onto the floor, staining this pristine white world with red. "Agh!", it hurts to think but he recalls bright lights, breaking free of restraints and escaping, then nothing, nothing but falling down a dark shaft. He looks around to see where where he might have come from but everything all around looked the same. And as he looked around he noticed two red circles floating in the distance. He stared at them for seconds, and started walking towards them, when he noticed them blink, and he hesitated. And those dots got closer to him, and closer, and as he stared he started noticing an outline.

She was no threat he hoped but given his condition even this little girl could pose a danger, he had no capacity to run now, and as the girl came up to him he asked her for help, but the girl was expressionless, staring at him with an air of curiosity as her head had tilted to the side slightly. So the boy gritting with pain asked her if she knew the way out, and she stared at him blankly for a moment when she then started sniffing the air. "Something is odd about this girl", thought the boy, but he was pleased to have the company of someone in this empty world. The girl, sniffing the air started walking in the direction from where the boy came, and so he turned to follow her. Hhad asked her who she was, what she was doing here but she didn't respond or even turn to look at him. The pain made it difficult to walk, but fortunately this girl walked quite slowly herself, fitting of her cold, unenthusiastic nature. They continued walking, walking further than he had ever recalled doing so, all the while she was sniffing the air, tracking his scent it would seem. Perhaps he had passed out at some point and woke up without his full memory. How fortunate he had found her, or... that she had found him... otherwise he might be lost here forever. THe pain was spreading, as time had passed, what had started on his side had spread out to his legs, feet, chest, and arms. And at this point he could no longer walk, he had fallen to his knees and started to crawl in anguish. The girl who walked so lowly may as well have been running now, as he was in no state to be keeping up with her pace anymore. "STOP! WAIT FOR ME!" he shouted, but she, as always, payed no heed to him. Whatever she is, she's not a thing that can be personalized with. Every measure of movement he made which contacted the floor only exacerbated the pain in his limbs.

But she was getting further away now and he was slowing to a crawl, if he gave in to the pain he would lose her, and with no ability to orient himself in this world where every direction looks the same, he'd be lost here forever. Therefore keeping up with her is the only thing that matters now. And so he built up the determination to push against the pain, enjoy it if he must, but he must rush to keep up with her! The addrenaline began pumping through him and he could think of nothing but the need to reach her! He straightened his limbs, began getting up, one knee and foot first, his body feeling like its on fire with the pain, he yelled extremley loud to divert his attention away from his torment, he got up on both legs and began to shuffle towards her with all his efforts, stumbling but keeping hiself aloft. Every step he could do nothing but moan and shout, nothing matters anymore but to just move, just move and move. Thinking of nothing else. Time seemed to have dissapeared from his mind. It's nothing but pain and the desire to keep moving now. But time was passing, and passing, and time did not forget to keep ticking, and then found himself a few arms lengths away, so he made a last second rush to reach her, and reach her he did, and he took his arm and extended it out to grab the back of her dress collar. With a sense of achievement, relief, and surprise, he managed to pull her back towards him. She had been a subject of great turmoil in his mind as she was getting away, something great, cold, and oppressively negative that he had to beat, but as she pulled back so easily he realized she is indeed just a light, feeble girl that is subject to even his own limits.

With relief he now knows this girl won't get far so long as he has a grip on her. He pulls her further back and shifts his grip to her left wrist with his right arm and they keep walking. They keep walking, and walking, and the pain has now reached his head and is all over his body. He' not able to handle it anymore, he just wishes to lay there and pass out, but wherever this girl is going may mean safety. And so he continues pushing forward ready to give up, when the girl begins walking slower. A bit slower still , and slower still. Then a complete stop. Grititng in pain he looks around, and there's nothign out of the ordinary, just infinite white all around. He looks at her expecting her to do something, but she's standing still, looking ahead. Though she's still he fears letting go, as she may start walking at any moment. But then she looks up. And so you do as well but there's nothing of interest up there, just white empty sky, ceiling, air, whatever up there could be. He looks at her again expecting another reaction from her, but all she does is stare up. he still doesn't want to let go in fear of her moving again, but a minute passes and nothing from her. Just a blank stare up. And so he feels comfortable letting go now. He looks up and there's nothing up there, so he reaches out to poke her cheek for a reaction when he notices his hand. ...His hand.... his hand.... It's... it's pale white just like her own skin. In fact the whiteness of his hand against her skin melds right it he can't even distinguish her skin from his own.

He keeps searching around for something, anything, all the while looking back at her making sure she doesn't get away or does anything new, but she's still standing there looking up. He keeps searching around the area. and finds nothing. He looks back at her in the distance, where she appears smaller, and he gives up his search and walks up to her with an angry expression. He looks her in the eyes and yells at her to say something. But she's still expressionless, staring up. He shoves her lightly, hoping for a reaction. She stumbles back, her gaze broken as her head is tilted down. That seems to have broken her of her trance. ANd she looks at you with her blank expression. And she slowly looks back up again at the point she was before. And he realizes there must've been something above where she had been all this time. And so he looks up at and reaches out. Where she's looking is slightly higer than his reach, so he jump and to his surprise there's soemthing hard there, but it appears invisible. He lands and realizes whatever it is, it fits the circumference of his hand. Maybe he can climb it. And so he jumps, grabs a hold of it and begins to pull his weight up when suddenly the thing wiggles and turns black and an alarm sound fills the air.
