The board (website as a whole rather) just slowly stops being fun and starts being genuinely aggravating. The healthier people tend to simply stop coming back so often.
The culture is still that teenage/young adult culture, and when you are no longer a part of that culture it starts being uncomfortable to be in it. It's like that Simpsons quote: I used to be with it, but they changed what "it" is and now what I'm with isn't "it" and what is "it" is weird and scary to me. I can already feel it happening to me, what shitposting looks like these days is genuinely frustrating to read, and I'm only 28. What used to be my main board, /a/, is near-unrecognizable to me, and I feel like an outsider browsing there. What used to be shunned is now just the culture. I hate it, so I stopped visiting. It'll happen with /ic/ for me too, but I mostly stick around to try and help other artists rather than for entertainment.
