Is it wrong if it feels like a waste of time to do all of this just to draw little cartoons if I'm only drawing as a hobby? I don't really care if it's good

if you’re only drawing simplistic cartoons like the left, you are legitimately retarded for studying anatomy, perspective, composition etc
>b-but I’m doing it and I got better
you got better from drawing, retard

>>7043217
Absolutely
You need an understanding of anatomy, but you can eventually get that by drawing in your target style, there's no need for the ultra realistic study, unless you're one of those anime artist that puts focus on the muscles and bone to make dynamic drawings

Art is too vague a term. I feel like I'm being grifted whenever someone says the word art or talks about the experience of being an artist. Motherfucker do you paint or illustrate or design? Don't speak to me about nancy fancy art because you sound like a housewife who makes videos on youtube and publishes self help books for 'artists'. Be specific. If you mean drawing say drawing. If you mean painting say painting. Then we can talk about how painting is mass drawing instead of this mumbo jumbo discussion that plagues /ic/

Practice as you want your final drawings to look like, I don't known why people are being intentionally obtuse about someone else's path to drawing, if you want to try figure drawing or anatomy do it as an exercise to learn some construction and forms while keeping accuracy and consistency, but you can achieve this with minimal investment without bloating yourself with information you're never going to use, that's only practical for curiosity sake and if you're really interested and have a good use for it, if not, then try something simpler.
Watch Drawing for experienced beginners from Marco Bucci and see if that's enough for (You), don't just come back here after and say "hurr some anon told to watch this, will it be enough? Why I'm not immediately good?" just try something simple and create what you want and if you see you're hitting a wall decide whether it's because you're now drawing enough or you really feel like further understanding of fundamentals are necessary, keep in mind it's going to be an organic process and it may take some time or less depending on how quick you're at learning and practicing them or how good your sense for design is, so don't take everything at face value, I just recommended that course because it's a good for beginners and he explains things clearly enough that you'll have a better sense for drawing without meandering around aimlessly, try his free videos on Jewtube too, especially his 10 minutes for a better painting series.
