Everyone says twitter but it hasn't really worked for me desu. Been posting my work on there for a year and I'm still sitting at 0 followers. It was a bit easier for me to grow on instagram, I'm still a really small account but I managed to accumulate some followers at least. However, recent changes in the algo have fucked it up so your followers don't always see your posts and it's basically impossible to grow unless you're a large account, buy ads or post reels like crazy. Tiktok has also worked better for me than twitter, one of my posts blew up and got me a couple hundred followers. But it's inconsistent, a couple posts have tens of thousands of views while most others only have a few hundred. I also tried pixiv, basically got no interaction posting my normal art so I made a new one where I posted anime stuff. Then I got a couple followers, none of my posts blew up but I get some interaction. Twitter has been the hardest to crack from my experience, maybe cause I'm starting from 0? In terms of reach though, tiktok is the best platform.

Basically, insta used to be ok but it's dead. It's very hard to grow from 0 on twitter. Tiktok is the best in terms of reach and pixiv is ok if you're doing anime stuff. They're all shit at this point from my experience. Wish there was a good forum or something out there but those days are gone.

I remember back when I started posting art online back in 2006, dA used to be somewhat of more natural ''growing'' sites, I definitely had some more consistency posting art there, but climb with followers was steady and engagement with audience was palpable with your artistic improvement.

Nowadays, I really can't be bothered to post that much consistently as I did before, but you can't tell me something isn't fucked up when I post my art on Twitter and it get's 100 views and barely one like. And I'm doing art on professional level and have 700+ followers.

All these social media sites are only engaging if you constantly post something, and I mean CONSTANTLY. Like, you are punished if you don't constantly post on that shit of a site (I'm not sure how much do you have to post to 'activate' algorithm).

So, not only you have to chase that improvement (which is normal if you aim to get better) but you also have to fight algorithm bingo to activate any sort of exposure. That shit is draining.
