>Digital art is easier than traditional art
NO IT FUCKING ISN'T
>Digital art isn't real art
YES IT FUCKING IS

WHY IS THIS SO MUCH HARDER THAN PENCIL AND PAPER?
IS THERE A SETTING I NEED TO PLAY AROUND WITH?

This was me for a good while.

The truth is that there is no setting, it really does just take practice. I think drawing on paper is easier as a beginner since you have that textile feedback. With digital you don't have that sense of touch which makes controlling your pen harder. You will learn though, so keep at it. And I would also recomend to keep it simple. Explore the tools you have, but don't try looking for any shortcuts until you feel that you have a better handle on things.

use a hard round brush with opacity pressure for everything
photoshop comes with one by default i think but in CSP you might have to make one yourself or download one

I could be wrong, but I predict you bought an <$100 tablet with an active area of 6x4 inches and now you're wondering why you're having a hard time drawing on your 32 inch monitor when your cursor is moving 6 times or more as fast as your hand otherwise would be to make the equivalent mark on paper.

Here, is this better? It's called an apatosaurus.

I don't have much knowledge on brush types, but I'll look into these, thanks.

>>7022281
I tried practicing a little and I did improve slightly. The only setting I changed was to make the pen only make marks when I hold down the button, which makes it easier to place my marks. I'll keep practicing.

>>7022334
I almost did buy one, but I was at my parents' house and my dad had a bunch of tech junk lying around in a box, one of those items being a drawing tablet my sister used to use during high school. It is indeed a 6x4 inch tablet. I did try slowing down a bit and making smaller movements and that helped.

It's worth to check Ctrl+Paint to understand the digital tools.

I think the better adjective is "inconvenient".

Although the fact of matter is, handling different mediums are additional skills that you must acquire.

looks like you fucked up your pen pressure settings or they came fucked by default
try to fix that, might have to install software for your tablet or mess with brushes but it looks as if you're drawing with your mouse right now

I called it. It's very common for people to want to "test the waters" by purchasing a small tablet, not knowing that even an experienced artist will struggle with them.

If you get a larger tablet it will give you the opportunity to engage in more natural movements and they'll be translated onto your screen more accurately. The tablet's size is of paramount importance and if you have any inclination to draw in digital for the foreseeable future you should consider ditching that thing and getting an Intuos Large (any gen) instead.

Thanks guys! All of this was really helpful, and I'm going to look more into some of these things in the future.
I'm going to use this knowledge to draw dragon porn, not because I'm a cringe furry, but because dragons are cool and based.
I also want to give a special thanks to Xi Jinping and all of his joyous sweatshop workers for making it possible for a goober like me to afford an awesome tablet!

it's easier in some ways, (cleaner, undo button, tools etc)

harder in other ways (same tactile 1to1 feel isn't quite as good, etc)

OP try working on a larger canvas, 4000x4000 something like that and make your pen size huge and your min low-zero, that might help

Just overdraw here is result 1 minute drawing 1 minute cleaning. Lot of new digital beginners are doing same mistake stop trying to make it clean and precise just do it one line if its not just ctrl-z if you are lazy use keymapper and bind it to key or pen.

>> No.7025743

1. Get a tablet with 8192 levels of pressure
2. Get CSP EX
3. Install these pencils: https://www.mediafire.com/file/wqtzfg7ve1l9oo9/
4. Resize the brushes if they're too big/small.
You're welcome.

it is easier than traditional if you start with it first.
ask a digital artist to draw on pen and paper - they can't.
it goes both ways.
