It's highly exaggerated in a way that is better for a child's cartoon or a mid-level autist that struggles to tell the difference between facial expressions without extremes. It was also drawn by some of the grossest people to trawl the internet, creating art that emphasized all of the things that society attempted to shame away from direct line of sight. Or at least until it was forced through with the power of the internet and creativity stemming (or stimming) from the most infernal place of unpalatable things.

Because Merc_wip is from the days when everybody aspired to be a concept artist drawing dragons and space marines. While Merc_wip is proficient in its technical ability from the painter it is also kitsch, dull, and generic due to the posture and subject matter. But of course /ic/ eats it all up since all they do is paint still life studies of fruit bowls and wrinkly old men believing they're deserving a form of recognition for doing a 1:1 copy of a profile head drawing from a Bargue plate. /ic/ is the pinnacle example of being uninteresting and flavorless while being pretentious and overblown, in a way Merc_wip relates to /ic/ since they're both boring. Also, someone got their ass handed to by it.
