in this thread we charge the power to break ruts and bad habits.
We are going to make it, currently coming out of a 2 week rut, fuck that shit, we gotta draw, lets fucking go.

no need to

reminder that the internet is designed to keep you captive, I know I am using it, I gotta find a way to fucking obliterate it out of my life.

that's untrue, unfortunately. it's important to share your work as early on and often as possible. get feedback, any. it will keep you humble and grounded in reality. if not sharing to anons who will brutalize you, share it with relatives who will sugar coat everything which is better than nothing I guess

Okay lets say I believe that you are drawing offline without evidence, what was the point of posting here? You should just draw on your own without even making this thread because by making this thread and replying you're checking back in, wasting time in a cage made to bring you back. That's your logic btw not mine.

Based OP.
Other anons don't need to post work if they're uncomfortable with it, but I will share some old work here to help break the ice and encourage others to do so like >>7012756

Would post something newer but got projects atm.

Currently trying to figure out how to design my own race of bug people. Christmas comes and I get a gift card.
Everything on full hold because videogames once again consume my life

Aw man, I used to play a lot of vidya back in the day but what I did was draw in between sessions. Eventually, I'd find myself getting more engrossed in drawing than playing and eventually cut the vidya off altogether since I began to view it as more of a distraction from the thing I *really* cared about. Nowadays I only play them once in a blue moon.
Best of luck to you, anon.

You posted work, you have my respect. Also not saying you HAVE to post your work but writing some feelgood post feels hollow if you don't have any effort to back it up you know? If you're un comfortable with it don't post on an art critique board. That's just where I'm coming from.

I too would prefer if people posted their work with things like this, and I do agree that it would be more meaningful to lead by example.
Unfortunately, there is so much fighting and nodraw shenanigans that actively try to discourage people from posting, so I appreciate it when anons try to be encouraging to each other.
But with this all said I do agree that /ic/ as a whole needs a higher art-to-posters ratio, I want to see more artwork but all I can do is try to be welcoming.

Bug man in question
This is the first attempt at a more or less full body after I drew the head and chest on a vacuum.
It's a really rough draft but I wanted to get the basics of the design right(skeletal armor like look) before I proceed with the complexity (wings, muscles mechanical pieces in the bone)
Maybe part of why videogames keep distracting me is because I'm /beg/ and the stuff in my head is way too hard for me to even draw

Based work-posting, anon. Cool bug guy too.
Personally, if I feel like I'm not good enough to draw something, I simply decide to draw it anyway but badly, and then once I'm done I look for what needs to be improved on and work on that the next time.

Also another thing that might help you is to watch art tutorials while drawing the things you enjoy. That way you can improve while making what you want to create.

Trying to draw an art piece everyday but I get so stuck up on tiny bullshit and detailed rendering that I sometimes quadruple the amount of time I spend drawing compared to the time frame I gave myself. I'm trying to optimise and simplify my rendering but a semi-coom art piece of mine that took quite a long time to draw, because of the reason above, got 300+ likes on twitter. Usually I get around 20-50 likes. Guess I'm focusing more on lewd shit now. It feels good but I'm feeling a bit conflicted if I should simplify my rendering or not anymore. I fucking hate rendering. I guess I'll try coom art with a simpler artstyle for a bit and see the reception. Maybe I can find a middleground. I do feel quite motivated to draw since a long time. I'm really trying to take this social media shit more serious this year. I really want to make it.

Lets get back into it bros. was anyone else completely run down and dead over december? was so tired I was struggling to even get out of bed on my off days. I'm eager to get stuck into my art progress now.

Thanks anon, litterly what I'm doing. The more I draw it the more I know what to improve on the base design before I can try using it as reference to make characters out of it
>>7013874
I honestly have never looked up a single tutorial. I kinda like brute forcing everything until it sticks. But at the cost of a slow progression in skill
