to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help.

Recently started drawing as a hobby (like, 3 or 4 months ago), mostly to draw anime characters. Thing is, I know next to nothing about art or color theory, and I’m too broke for courses. So, as any normal person would do, I’m asking 4chan.
Drew this yesterday, tried my best but it’s not clicking.
Just give me some critique or pointers please

How did you learn to draw such good anatomy on a simple sketch? Did you just copy different body parts, and if yes, from photo reference or already stylized?

I can copy quite good now, but the problems come when it gets to more detailed stuff like anatomy of the different body parts

Just pick a few important anatomical features for starters, and slowly add more to your repertoire as you become comfortable. If you're mainly drawing soft anime-style female figures then you don't need much. Starting with the deltoids would be my recommendation, because they are usually very visible and they connect with so many other important muscles. On that subject, one trick you can perform when drawing upper body anatomy is to simplify the chest, shoulder and upper back (as well as the breasts, at least if they're big enough) into what's essentially a thick cape of some sort. It's especially visible in the second pose. Noticing this helped me a lot.

You stacked everything vertically and straightened out the pose. The main masses should be something like pic rel.
If i were playing detective I'ld guess it was something like saying to yourself "the left side has a pinch and the ribcage is leaning a bit left relative to the pelvis" and then you drew it literally leaning to the left of vertical which slid everything over.

Focus on making simple rhymical statements. Now what I mean by that is that you should be keeping your contruction/under drawing decisive. You could make one of these arms with 4 lines (outlined in red). Take more time with the lay-in to make sure that you are sure of where you want things to be. I'll also mention that you need a better grasp of how to use your lines. Think about what qualities your subject exhibits, what type of line is most suitable? What does a tight line feel like? What about a fluffy line? How do make something feel fluffy if you can only make a hard line? these are the questions you need to ask when drawing any particular part of your subject to produce a drawing with sensitivity.

>>7010742
Find a dedicated study space. The room where you play games or mess around in isn't going to become a work environment unless you make it that completely. Go to the library or some other place. If you can't do that there are things you can do in your room. For example you only draw when you turn your night lamp on or when you put on some work dedicated shoes. Something to get you into the midset that your about to do a particular activity, just to build some momentum. draw for 5 minutes a week, then increase the time from there but only do it when you have the conditions met. No drawing when the lamp or shoes are on. Do it at a consistent time and stick to it. Maybe get an agenda of what you want to do as well. Discipline doesn't come out of nowhere, you must foster it cause you've never used it.

1. colour pick the reference
2. place the colour roughly in the corresponding region of your drawing
3. repeat until complete.

when you feel confident, use your eyes instead of colour picking.

That's how you render :) Use a hard round brush with opacity jitter. No blend modes just 1 layer.

If you are trying to get an effect such as chromatic abberation, just paint it yourself lol

You don't learn to paint by color dropping. He wasn't asking how to pick colors, he was asking about how to render, as a process. Telling him to pick colors and not even really blend is stupid and doesn't help. Since he's not an absolute beg he should be forced to use an ounce of thought to render something. But his problem is necessarily color- he's using a fucking airbrush, anon told him not to, then said "Just copy images" without guiding him to something that explains the process.
That's no different than "just draw"

What you need to do is what is called "master studies".
1-Find art you like and save it to a folder
2-Open one of them and copy it to the best of your ability
3-When starting ONLY use the basic bitch round brush, even if the ref has fancy smooth shading, simplify it into 2-3 hard defined tones, squinting your eyes helps for some people
4-Do this a ton for a lot of images, over time you'll develop your intuition for coloring and shading
5-Feel free to start using the soft edge brush (airbrush) to soften transitions if you want to get closer to the final result, but fucking avoid aribrushing the whole thing or only using this for coloring/rendering or you end up with mud.

It will be painful and you'll hate the shit you make for weeks if not months, learn to let go of your ego and just grind through this. If you stop being a faggot about it and actually do it you'll realize you start to have a lot of "aha" moments and realize things as you go about doing your copies. You don't need to immediately know what tools or techniques the original artist used, but by sheer repetition and studies you start to pick up on things, like where do they use cold/warm colors, or high/low saturation, or how they use certain shapes and shadows to mark anatomical landmarks, etc.

I'm sure it sounds unintuitive and retarded to you, but this teaches you faster than any handholdy book or course ever will.

/3/fag reporting in, I broke my laptop and can't do 3D stuff anymore so I'd like to profit from this troubled times to train my drawing skills.
I want to especially train my basic/complex shape drawing in perspective. (and train combining them to make up organic stuff)
Anyone can link/provide me a list of exerices to do to train that. If it has a theoritical approach of the exercice, even better cause most of the stuff I foud just says "Draw this shape in different perspective". Yeah no shit but when I do it feels the perspective is picked randomly based on how I drew the main polygons of my shape.
Any tips too?

How do I get good at drawing? I'm left handed, have perpetually shaky hands, ADHD, autism and a learning disability. 24.

I've wanted to get good at art since I was a teen but I've lacked the motivations, resources and teachings to get started.

I don't know
>which brush size to use
>optimal size to draw digitally
>good pressure curve to start out with
>how to find a comfortable pressure curve
>how to undo bad habits like drawing stiff figures
>how to fix shitty lines you're too used to drawing
>how to get better when you're experienced but /beg/
I legitimately don't even know how to do sketch lines. My coordination is so fucked thanks to my autism, I can barely even sketch without even the most basic lines fucking up. I can't visually imagine stuff in my head when I'm actually drawing, and my ADHD just wants me to finish as soon as possible. I can barely decide on something as basic as what model to use when trying to sketch a head.

I was looking at the Erinye painting (that's what it used to be, can you believe it? I sketched it out years before this even) and I've got a canvas its size. It's either I enter it solo (maybe? ) or it's that it has a sister painting which would make sense of it and the Christ in hades painting. I mean getting it done for the show is a tall order. It's ridiculous because they give the theme of the show little over a month before submissions close, so, you can't plan for it. It's just complete luck if you've anything ready that fits their arbitrary theme. If they announced the theme a year before . . . It's ridiculous.

It's a total joke, they tell me the theme when I've got to enter it. It's too late then isn't it?

i have only done his "how to draw" book, but if i assume he will keep the autism and power level, his 2nd book will be VERY exhausting on how to render. but the BIG QUESTION is what medium will the book use, cause rendering is all about tools. as tradchad you should probably look for books about rendering in XYZ medium. basic bitch rendering is explained in all beg books like keys to drawing

>>7011292
