Use reference of figures in perspective. Go for extreme foreshortening and you will stop hearing that. Start by tracing those refs, art and photos, to get a feel for the shapes required.
If you just want your regular drawings to not look flat, think in 3d, put a horizon line somewhere. Lines like belts and collars and tips of leggings will have curves appropriate for where they are in relation to that horizon line. Do a basic perspective course/book/YouTube video if that doesn't make sense.

You have to draw characters, objects, anything that you like regardless of the quality. Simply doing this is enjoyable, but if you try to bank on every sketch or even every ten that you make being a masterpiece you're setting yourself up for failure. Take weekly breaks where you just trace from real images and other artists. Even AI images are enough. It's not procastinating and it's not art theft. Every artist does it. Also train your non-dominant hand so you can leave your comfort zone. Take courses like drawabox, perspective plays more into art than you think.

Stop. Drawing. Every. Day. You'll never gonna make it if you continue to do so.

I'm learning from an Anatomy for Artists book. It only really tells whether a muscle extends or flexes an area of the body. At my level, I think learning the how rather than the what of muscle uses wouldn't be too beneficial at the moment. Definitely something for the future though.

These are great sketches and angle studies. Interesting style. Despite her nose and lip protruding quite a bit like a beak, they seems to sink back into the face when she looks straight up. I understand this may be a cheat to improve readability, but just an observation. Thanks for sharing.

I just meant to comment on the attitude I see among some around here that unless you have long, clean swooping lines, then your linework is bad.

But you're right, overall cohesion is the important thing, much more so than having super-clean line work. Some artist's lines are very rough and I love their work.

Well it's good enough that you're proud of it which is nice, but you should consider why you're drawn towards edgy stuff like that. I'm assuming that you're on the younger side, try drawing something beautiful and normal. It will pay off for you in the long run. Shock value doesn't get you far

its not really a patience thing, just that I have trouble visualized figures so I had to iterate. Sometimes I am just drawing a blank, and the image didn't firm up until after I started blocking out the space in which they occupies and started constructing the figures. Its easier for me to modify existing figures than to be able to visualized them from the get go.

i decided i was gonna paint an old big vase youd find in some ancient ruins or castle. spent an hour looking for references, apparently that only existed in my head. decide ill just mash stuff from different refrences, but realize all the vases are either glossy or so complex above my skill level with the texture and coloration through age so i ended up not drawing.
