This is my personal view but to me guidelines and construction lines are line training wheels or correction tools to have proper accuracy and proportions, there's nothing wrong with using them but I think it's ideal to want to eventually move away from making a bunch of lines that will be erased and just draw from memory without measurements or reference points, (Keep the reference point in your head, like Kim jung Gi

Tbh mine looked like that early in the process too. You've done a good job of capturing the angles, proportions, and where everything needs to be placed. The only thing I'd change is the face needs to be a tad wider/closer to the gun hand - if you look at the ref, the hand covers a bit of the face. But what you have here is a start of a good drawing, now you just... scribble all over it and add detail. If you want to, that is.

Like, I get that you mean that it looks ugly at this stage but clearly you tried to pay attention to the pose and got the gesture down quite well imo.
