I plan on drawing every day, once my B-day hits, in 21-ish days. Gonna be 22 y/o and more or less wanna see how I progress more, on a day by day basis. Also should ask, but are 3d/blender pictures okay to post? Wanna get into blender sculpting for the 3d to 2d work flow.

Got my schedule set up for the following weeks, and following months to not slog around, and get to drawing drafts up. and avoid doing past mistakes with having a job. Wanting to do something with art for a long time, whilst having my current irl job. If I had known now at 18, the last three years would have been spent less with bouncing from retail job to dead end warehouse jobs, spending on credit with money that should have been budgeted.

Not in a desperate situation, just a 21 y/o living with parents, while paying off debt. Figured with the stripped spending, I can definitely pay of the 3k of credit debt within 2 months, save at least 15% of my current pay, and handle the 20k student loan from a college semester in 2019-2020.
>The loan is set at 140/month. But I wanna pay if off asap.

Got an at home workout routine and diet regimen to cut the last 88lbs off, supplements for health, and generally want to make more out of myself, as opposed to just living for a 9-5. Or rather a 4pm-8pm with the current hours. Job aint bad, far from it. But outside of that, I made myself a 3-4 year plan to move out, have a good amount of savings, not spend like a manic. Started the last part with cutting my credit cards, Guess its sort of my own New Year's resolution, just reevaluating where I want to be, and what I want to do in a year from now. Might as well plan ahead with some drafts.

Upper image is the most boring, central composition imaginable. Design is a girl in a white dress with altered features to make it more creepy. 7/10
Bottom image is central as well but with elements intentionally framing focal points and leading to it (like how sword is leading the eye to the face of anime girl, how the elastic cat circles, frames that face to emphasize it more). Artist clearly took the effort to do some research on medieval clothing and attire and altered it to appeal to more modern tastes, but without losing medieval feeling. Design was very elaborate. 4/10, much worse than the upper one according to the judge.
>APPLICATION OF FUNDAMENTALS
Upper picture shows no knowledge of anatomy, no sense of lighting, environment looks like something a child would draw from imagination: 7/10
Bottom one shows variety of textures and materials, artist uses light and shadow in a consistent matter, lineart is clean and crisp, anatomy and proportions pleasant. Both human and animal features are appealing. Maybe I would emphasize ambient occlusion and reflect lights more for a more realistic feeling and redo cat's paw, but other than that it's very nicely done. 8/10, slightly better than above pic.

I can kinda agree with the other scores but not with these ones.
I hope someone will identify who's that judge so I won't vote on them accidentally, or that they simply won't volunteer for it next year. Yes, they put in some effort into those (like with a paintover for torture), but their scores aren't consistent and they don't reflect what a normal person understands by "fundamentals" and "composition and design".

This is part of it but I think it's more that tg bypassed the entire system that was put in place to select judges. It is annoying when one guy gets to circumvent all the rules while the rest of us have to adhere to them. I would have loved to be a judge but I chose to compete. Im sure some of the judges would have loved to compete but they could only judge this time.
I like table's scoring and the way he did it on his own is great (my only suggestion is that he wait for the official scores to be released instead of beating them to the punch).

It’s better to just not include the scores all together. Or make 2 separate tiers of results. One with the judges included and one with participants only.

In either case, i found the judging this year to be incredibly homogeneous. I felt all 5 judges rated very closely to each other and have similar values. I was kind of happy to make my own set of scores. Because my 20% contribution to the weighting of the official panel scores would not have been enough to make any noticeable difference in the results. I also like that you know it came from me. And you can see what I valued in the submissions. It felt more personal.

I almost feel like part of participating should be that everyone has to crit all the drawings. Maybe there are still officially 5 judges that we choose who we trust, but then we could have like a “peoples choice” tier list and a “official” tier list.

I think it’s important that everybody look at everyone’s drawings for more than 30s and we spend a nonzero amount of time to say something about each drawing, even if it’s a shitpost or empty praise.

- rethink the idea of barring judges from participating. We had very few judges to pick from and this rule makes it worse.

- decide if the new weekly format works better than the weekend one and/or consider other options

I enjoy pinups a lot too but I also think that it holds back the artist from making interesting images. I was pleasantly surprised with Wuschel's entries this tourney because of how well he pulled off the differing scenes for each piece. If he made his entries just a vertical portrait of a girl staring at the camera in 3/4 view and coat it in a particular skin to match the prompt, then it would get samey and boring real fast.

What's the difference between an interesting pinup and an interesting landscape? I just love pinups and think they're perfect. All the drawings in my inspiration folder are pinups without exception. It's like telling a passionate portrait photographer to start shooting trees in landscape to reach their 'true potential'. I don't get it. Threads about to die but now that I'm scrolling through the scores finally, yeah, the judge's evalutions aren't great. Urazi's had some of the most sovl, though. Drawing your cowboy oc for all of them is based and I hope they had fun, I like their pieces best of the tourney
