If you are a /beg/inner or /int/ermediate in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

>TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction
to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help.
When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Sorry I might get some names of body parts wrong. I think her lat is placed too high which indicates her shoulder also being too high. Her breast is also significantly too high. I like to imagine breasts as being like varying degrees of fullness water balloons suspended from where the pecs attach to the shoulder. See how this breast sits below where the pec connects? Yours should as well, it even looks like you indicated that part of the pec, but your breast is sitting centered vertically with it. It should also follow the movement of the shoulder and should be rotated to the side as her shoulder is.

day 68
i seem to have gotten better at the "basic" exercises by doing advanced exercises like full color rendering.
Doing "basics" is really just diminishing returns, i guess this is how one gets to the perma/beg/ hell, constant fundamental exercises
I've been watching bodybuilding shorts for some reason and in one of them tom platz says "you've achieved failure" to a guys he's coaching. I think that's pretty insightful, when you stop failing that's the worst part, the moment your results are "good enough" or "decent" is the moment your progress with this exercise completely plateaus and you need to find a new approach asap.

Advice on getting an art study schedule going and how to stay mentally focused on learning? Ever since finishing art college 3 years ago I've struggled massively with learning drawing, I feel directionless and overwhelmed with what I should focus on and what i should prioritize learning. My art also seems to fluctuate constantly, pic rel was from 2-3 years ago and I struggle to replicate it's quality alot. Some days I can barely handle drawing a simple basic figure without getting frustrated but other days I can stumble into drawing something half way decent looking and that I want to draw to completion. I find myself getting overwhelmed by tutorials online and struggle to draw complex objects like torsos in 3D, even though in my head I can break them down to basic shapes and understand how to make them more complex, but when it comes to putting it into practise I fail

Torso too long, legs too short and thicc, still having an issue with 'drawing a girl calling it a boy' syndrome but I did try.

I guess if the legs were leaner, and the face a little longer? The heads already quite big-ish and I did try and add some boxy-ness to the hips.

rule number 1 when asking for advice:

ask for advice on a specific issues and explain what you are doing and your thought process so people have better knowledge of context and your thinking/process to more easily pinpoint a problem and give you advice/help

asking for advice like "what do i improve?" isnt helpful neighter to you nor the person that truly wants to help

That’s good advice when dealing with intelligent, mature people (e.g., not you or anyone else here). In practice, on /ic/, saying “advise me on x” will just result in smarmy retards (e.g., you or anyone else here) to say “oh, you think only x is your problem?”

“Cope” I mean, yeah, for baseline drawing ability. Obviously it won’t make you better at art. But the brush does matter, it drastically changes how you have to approach form and some require practice to use as intended. I’m asking specifically because it takes my art, stylistically, in a very different direction. These brushes aren’t compatible with fine lines - that’s not something I’m used too. I didn’t know if it had appeal worth pursuing. Here’s what my “usual” brush looks like. It’s very different, I think.

>start with Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (but ignore the pseudoscience. This book helps with drawing what you see learning perception.)
>Do lesson 0 & 1, maybe 2 of Drawabox. (dont go beyond this as it is a waste of time and teaches you to be too stiff when drawing insects n shit)
>Do Dynamic Sketching by Peter Han (Is there a torrent somewhere for this? I am not paying 1000 dollars for an online course!)

do memory drawings, anon. After you make your careful study, put away the ref and redraw what you did from memory. It makes the visual information come out in your imagination drawing. Forcing yourself to recall what you studied even just one time makes an amazing difference

Rightermost pouch on her torso is shaded wrong, Her right arm should also have a shadow falling on her torso, also I think her left arm is not far enough back to warrant that much light on it, it looks very close to her body. I think these are the most glaring from my simple /beg/ eye.

Thanks, it’s actually harder to nail the subject down with less color choices

>pencils
I got plenty. Here's the last picture I sent my mom. I've done better. This was just a quick sketch. I'm just thinking about this pen right now.
>good financial advisor
I actually had a bad one but /biz/ straightened me out. I'm not going into the details here, but you can talk to them about the value vs cost.

Thank you for the reply. Going to work.

Taking a Vilppu lesson again after learning on my own for a while makes me feel like I completely forgot how to draw...

Neck is too small, collarbone is too high, ribcage is too far out on the left side, arm is too far out on the left side, deltoid area is too big on the right side, etc. It's just not accurate enough. When I compare my copies to copies of other anons mine just look like shit.
>>6857840
I know, I just feel like I'm missing something and should be better at copying by now. I've been drawing a few hours almost daily for a year now.

Hi /beg/
Is it possible to get good line thickness on smooth paper or should I just ignore that and focus on other stuff for now? Like shading is harder on smooth paper but you can do it with more patience

Honestly anon I am just a beg so take this with some salt but I don't think there's a purpose to going too hard on perfect copying. You captured all the important info from the source. Do you think whoever drew what you are referencing would make a collarbone the same width if asked to draw it again? Especially without staring at their original image while doing so.

>>6858535
This may not be of much help to you but whenever I see proko pop up on youtube or what have you, he tends to achieve width through multiple strokes. I think that's kinda standard for experienced artists.

Anon honestly your copies are fine. I think you can move on to other stuff in order to have some fun.

Might not be as natural as rough texture paper but it does replicate quite well, thanks

Fuck me. Bottom left at least feels like a person even if the pose is fucked. My brain just can't wrap itself around the pelvis being tilted back so far. Middle right could be salvageable if I didn't work the paper too hard. Top left makes me want to die.

Genuine advice anon- don't agonize about a copy being messed up. If it bothers you, just draw it again on another page.
These are just exercises, and believe me when I copied Bridgman I got a lot of poses very wrong.
