Because intuition plays a large role when creating furry like characters or designing creatures with exaggerated features. You're basically forced to 'learn as you go' when is one of the more ideal ways to learn. Meanwhile, most of ic believes if they copy all of Hampton, Vilppu, and Loomis they will be professional artists at the end. When the reality is you need to Create your own shit first to understand how to apply those studies onto your work.

He's a god character from a story I've been working on, and I have a few other examples sort of like this but my art style is sort of all over the place and I don't draw too often. Normally when I post here I post my catgirl gore art. This is back from April. I like it, I just wish I knew how to make the wings look flat.

Yeah, I have 4 different line art brushes I switch between depending on my mood. I really like how traditional pens look though, and I haven't found out how to replicate that look on my art program. I love Medibang but I really wish it had a better brush engine. I have this square brush that's fun to sketch with that I use often but I haven't really figured out how to use it for lineart yet

the face looks a little awkward to me, maybe a more graphical approach could work? i tried a paintover but it made her expression kind of boring. not really sure. perspective on the body came out really well though

Wip. A few weeks ago I was told that my shading looks like deviantart-mush, so I'm trying it with painting all values manually and without using the blending tool. Does is look acceptalble this far? Or is it too early in the process to say so?

Cartoonish heads are gonna be a pain to draw in dynamic perspectives. Sometimes you just gotta really break the perspective just to make it look "right".

The trouble I'm having is determining the difference in materials. I still can't tell if that's a fullbody suit being worn, or if it's more of a leotard. The bounce light in your larger shadow shapes seems a little too purple, considering the color of the background, in places like the legs and abdomen.

Thanks. Few hours maybe, I didn't count. I went back and forth a bit, noticed legs are not naked a bit too late. It started as one layer and then I separated it. I do both, depending on what situation calls for.
You really should do grayscale renders of primitive shapes. Look up "half way to black". It's very simple and will give you solid starting point.

Honestly though, the only solution I've found for art block is to just draw. It'll feel bad and you probably won't make anything good, but eventually you'll get an idea, or a bunch of shapes will trigger some inspiration, and then you'll be good again. Find a draw a comfort character, those help too when you're stuck. At the very least, it's practice.

But this one looks weird. IMO the right arm is too short, the neck looks like it's in the wrong place, not a fan of the head looking in that direction. I'm pretty sure her left arm can't bend that way. The torso is too long and it doesn't match with the perspective of the bottom.

I tried to edit it a bit to show what I meant, but the beg inside of me showed up and I'm pretty sure I fucked up the arms lmao.

right now I'm not seeing an error here. She's supposed to press her right leg against her belly while curving her spine.

I'm liking it a lot anon! I'm actually a big fan of that pose, and stretching out the torso like that. The only things that stick out to me are her hand which, while very competently drawn, doesn't entirely conform to the style of Pokemon; it's a bit too realistic, maybe? It's a style thing though, so it's not 'incorrect', just something I noticed.
Also her left eye (our right) is half-closed, while her other eye is open. I'm not sure if that was intended for the expression or not, I just thought I'd point it out.
Very nice work. And I also want to point out how much I appreciate the background elements. That shit is hard, and you did them quite well I think. Seems like a cozy kitchen.

The other anon is right. This will get you in trouble later down the line. It's better to force yourself to learn proper technique first, even if it's more difficult, or boring, or whatever.
You won't have a 1:1 reference for everything you draw, and when you want to draw something without reference, you'll find yourself floundering. It's a lesson every artist has learned, or will have to learn.
