What are fundies?
As someone who has been drawing "wrong" all this time. How do I ensure I get a solid understanding of the basics?

What even are the basics?
Construction, perspective, color theory and anatomy?

I want to draw human figures that look appealing and 3d.
I want to draw scenes in various angles instead of "anime girl staring at the void full frontal or 3/4ths".

I wish I had someone to mentor me and keep me in the right path.

I'd add to your list line work (line hygiene and accuracy- are your lines clean and readable, do they go where you intend) and proportion (are shapes accurate in relation to other shapes- can you move them around in a 2d space to give the illusion of 3d)
Form and value (the 3d structure of an object, and how light interacts with these structures).
I'm sure other anons will chip in with others, this is all I can think of

Without form, there’s no light, and with no light, you have no composition. All character drawing and landscapes are made of solid form.

Learn to draw a cube, and you’ve got it all.

Just start with form and perspective for now, the rest will make more sense and will be easier to understand later on. You don't wana overwhelm yourself.

That's why you have to pay someone: a tutor, an art school, or a book. Remember that drawing books are designed to guide beginners from zero to hero. But you have to go through them, have to read, make sure you understand them, etc.

No, fundamentals involves being able to paint shading and lighting based on your knowledge of color theory. This fucking overlay shadows and lights is basic bitch tier. Idc of its faster, you only get to break the rules after you have mastered them and actually understand what youre doing. I'm not saying this artist doesn't know how to, I'm saying that this is not fundamentals.

Well, because it takes years to get legs like that. Hardworking mom get them, but they cant be seen properly without a low BFP.

I answer you from my experience. The fundamentals are necessary to build artistic intuition, motor skills, and artistic judgment. Before studying fundies I was bad at creating 3d figures, It was impossible for me to make a copy and don't even talk about time, a simple face took hours. Studying the basics helped me to have tools to study in a deeper way, Now I can see the strength of an artist's line and understand his decisions a little. Also, by studying anatomy, he can understand why he made that decision.

If you quit when you're bad, you'll always be bad.

there is no one basic, but each path depends on each art form. training is shaped by the end. the way that 18th century painters were taught depended on what style and subject were in mode. it doesn't make sense for someone who wishes to do anime to have the same training.
even if fundamentals exist, they must be taught through and along with materials which are not fundamental, but accidental. composition is taught differently depending on if someone is a comic book artist, and another way if they wish to compose ancient greek friezes, and so forth for many other arts.
the treatment of light depends on various schemes for various art forms, with various media and various ways of using these media.
color is conceived of most differently depending on the art form.

fundies = fun dies

It means instead of learning by doing and drawing from life, you should spend most of your time making unrealistic schedules and preparing for the grind. Don't even bother to start working at your dream project if you haven't at least read every single book on constructive drawing and a terrabyte of tutorials and reference pictures you will eventually use when you manage to find the motivation to finish drawing the five-hundred boxes you wanted to finish last month.

Before you start doing whatever dumb shit these ngmi are saying do the actual fubdamentals.
Contour drawings, negative space, value studies. This will teach you how to draw what you see.
After that you can learn about, anatomy, perspective, composition.
