This is true at least for me. Grinding traditional drawing, especially in pen, makes painting feel easy. Rendering light and shadow appropriately with color is the hard part though. But you just barely can get away with symbol painting if that's a thing, just memorize what works. Or maybe you can't, but hopefully he comes back because I love a good lolcow.

To preface this, I do think you have talent and its good that you finish your work.

You should focus in monotone portrait studies, to understand values and the types of lighting and shadow(core shadow, reflected light etc). Another thing you should focus on is more realistic color choices for paintings, it'll help you abstract things easier. Lastly, try to get more genuine and formal training with art books. Loomis head and hands is a good start.

While I'm sure you get a lot of compliments in the real world, I think you need to paint more and practice more to actually have your skill match your confidence.

...but yeah, I'm past the idea of making perfect, technical paintings. That's is really not my objective. I am aware that I am good. I might pick up more good techniques here and there, but my primary objective is to make art that I love. I love my art. What other people think is secondary. Books are cool if I want to grow. In the future I might/have. Right now, I'm satisfied.

PS...I just started back painting after a 4 year hiatus. The ice spice is not finished, but is one of my first paintings back.

PSS...for people that say they are better than me/that I'm a beginner, I have to say I'm not convinced. You may be a better draftsman than me, but you probably aren't a better painter, technically. I'm a phenomenal painter and a decent draftsman. Drawing is a divine gift. I will only get but so good. But, I am a genius when it comes to paint techniques and paint efx. Oil or acrylic.

Also, yall are probably too uneducated to see why some of my art is painted flat. 4chan is not a credible art forum. Most of you are ngmi/just passing time/goofing off. I rarely come across folks on this forum that want to grow. If you did you would try to learn from people like me instead of calling me a nigger. Ya'll ain't serious. 99.9% of you ngmi.
