Should your hand touch the table when you're drawing or are you supposed to draw with your arm and let your hand float above the paper? What about if you're drawing with pen? Do you use the wrist with the pen or the elbow or the shoulder? Should the fingers be touching the paper?

Question - can a Windows user get a Linux machine and use it to run CSP and photoshop without too much difficulty? I am considering purchasing Linux to try Linux-mint, but if it’s going to be a headache (or just not feasible) for someone who isn’t extremely tech savvy, I’d really like to know.

To anyone that uses Krita, what are the best settings/brushes/options i can set to if i wanted to partially mimick the style of Carlos Ezquerra?
Because i hate how flat my drawings usually are and i want to make the brush strokes seem more dynamic and the color shading/blending a bit more interesting.
Or any other tips using Krita is nice, i just mentioned Ezquerra because i think his style is charming.
And chances are some stuff is less about the tools and more about the skill, so maybe i should look into artists streaming/recording themselves using Krita and how they do it.

i have a s6 lite and coming from using a desktop with keybinds macros etc it is NOT comfy. i keel over whenever i have to change my brush size because i have to do some wizard gesture in to my screen and most of the time choose the wrong size and flip the canvas and close the app and take a photo of myself all at the same time. also the screen glare is annoying if you're trying to take it anywhere. cant see myself using it for plein air painting (glare), pencil/ink sketching (trad feels more convenient than using the tablet). the stylus is really skinny even for my small hands and the button on it annoying to press.

However, I've realized I like drawing in CSP significantly more on desktop and the only other program on android that I do like drawing in a lot is sketchbook but even then I tend to use it more for doodles than anything serious. If you've already used CSP on a tablet and liked it and/or have other art programs on android that you use and like a lot I'd recommend getting a 12in+ size if you can instead of the 11 though since I'm also considering upgrading to a bigger screen. Also get the wacom one pen (or whatever wacom own you can find compatible) if you can with it to use instead of the default stylus since bc I found the s pen included was a bit too skinny to be comfortable for drawing for long periods of times.

Sadly one thing you will have to learn is that not everything needs feedback, and that mileage greatly surpasses anything.
If you put in all your effort into something and it gets only crickets, you feel "scammed" out of feedback.
But if you draw the same topic 10 times in a rougher manner, you will naturally get more feedback from experience itself.

Useful feedback should be seen as just a nudge in the right direction, a small course correction while you navigate full steam ahead. The destination is very far away, so as long as you're not navigating backwards, but in the right general direction, you should be good.

Having said all that, you can improve your chances of feedback by making specific questions about what you're trying to work on. "Is the hand dynamic in this drawing? Does it look weird?" is better than "What do you think of this drawing?"

tl;dr /ic/ is sadly one of the best places. Fail faster, experiment more than you polish, ask for specific feedback and keep drawing.

I had my life ruined by narcissistic 'artists' who were also moderators on 4chan and crypto communities. They initially got me off ground with discrimination and death threats, then kept an insane pressure of projection, gaslighting and provocation, while I was struggling to survive with a life-threatening condition. I almost died. Then they played the DARVO template on me, and successfully portrayed themselves as victims to inflate their reputational role-play. Due to the manipulations I did not speak to deceased relatives as much as I wanted to, which ruined my sanity.

I scarified myself to help others at the level I found meaningful, only to get viscerally screwed by people who sacrifice others to help themselves. They use their positions to silence me everywhere. They claim exposure is disrespectful to their identity, which is twisted and backward considering they have been name-dropping themselves, and me, for years. They only care about the avoidance of accountability and their absurd, perfect self-image. They are constantly bragging and attacking me, then using the reactionary defenses of mine to drag me down, undercutting the little remaining strength I have for their reputational luxure.

>A startling 44% of those questioned admitted they stayed indoors as much as possible for fear of being harassed. Almost a third reported having had money or possessions stolen, while 37% had been forced or manipulated into doing something they didn't want to do by someone they thought of as a friend. Almost half (49%) of the 1,300 people surveyed reported having been abused by someone they thought of as a friend.

Sorry for the autistic ruminations. I don't know how to stop the tears and worrying. I feel the need to off-load myself.

Obviously, it could've been worse. I am still alive. But I have no confidence over my long-term financial and physiological health and safety. I can not even respond to the endless waves of gaslighting due to the strong energy asymmetry between parties. They are not even consistent, and often fabricate mutually conflicting claims. For instance, they simultaneously claim that I am 'arrogant for refusing to detail my views' but somewhat also 'arrogant for being overly-defensive about my views with respect to the incitement to suicide they threw at me'. Obviously, there is nothing to respond to shocking and threatening behaviors, and I can only share ideas and concepts in a safe environment, since victims often avoid sensitive subjects as much as possible.

They have been hoovering me like crazy, then ridicule the fact I am still defensive. They hijacked my ability to disengage from abusive circumstances with nightmarish catch-phrases like 'see you tomorrow', and exploiting my empathy with 'please do work for me', over and over again. They constantly brag and provoke me with racial slurs (I understand that 4chan racists don't understand how traumatizing it is, but fox off) and mimicry (with the aim of suppressing the voice and authenticity of the victim). Ironically, I have apologized dozens of times, even though I literally did nothing wrong, while they never apologized. I constantly have to maintain a facade of being unaffected by the events to mitigate the harm of 'narcissistic supply' abuses. ASD is the worse. Narcissists love to LARP as autistic for reputational convenience, but they have no idea how difficult it actually is to live with it.

I don't know how to enjoy art, or science, again. I do not have any purpose, belonging, or safety left. I was completely obliterated.

The crab mentality is more dangerous than I imagined. Initially, crabs quickly put your life in danger with threats, discriminations, and defamations. Then they act dismissive, as if nothing happened, mocking your agony, and making you as socially isolated as possible, all while you are still suffocating and begging for help. Autists are especially vulnerable to narcissistic abuses since we are exploitable, easily manipulated, unskilled with communications, self-sabotaging, easily portrayed as arrogant, and openly critical of ourselves.

>> No.6837908

>>6837876
shapes can be useful to maintain proportion but as you practice drawing 3d form more you'll realize that you're limited to poses and angles where the body can be abstracted this way.

if you grind drawing from ref a ton you'll eventually get a feel for organic form and just be able to pull from memory like kim jung gi (rip). using real photos is ideal since 3d anime-style models are all stylized, and you lose info depending on what the modeller chooses to depict in their 3d sculpt.

however, if you want to get better faster, specifically at drawing anime girls, then real people will be less useful to you since you'll have to learn enough about anatomy and your own stylistic preferences for the practice to benefit you.

so i recc practicing with a 3d anime-style model, whether it is a game model in an mmo/game or a resin figurine, making sure the style fits the way you want your own art to look.

turning it off sets it to auto, so it depends on how powerful your computer is and how fast you move your pen. try a really fast stroke and you can see it increase the spacing to compensate. you should never actuality need 1%, even 5-10% shouldn't really be noticeable. if it is just do slower strokes

Depends where the pain is comming from.
Stratches massage, accupuncture, exercises.
Neck pain is a bitch and it could take years to fix it but if you do nothing it'll be worse because it'll be there for the rest of your days.
Try prodding your neck and surroundings and see if you can't massage it out a bit.
Even when it's gone I would still reccomend going to an expert, accupuncture or massage therapist.
Would trust a doctor since they usually just prescribe pills for everything.
Good luck hope you get well.

So you said
>"completely overwhelmed by anything that isn't bucket tool"
You should stick to learning one brush, pick what you like, but it would be easier with less texture for starters.
Do daily simple still life paintings(put an apple or pear on your desk and paint it). after a couple of months you'll be glad you did, keep up a habit like that.

Start with much larger brush strokes than you are probably using, paint larger color shapes, carve them with eraser or adjacent colors. Get used to changing the brush size on the fly so you can carve precisely where needed, good to have that option on shortcuts keys.

If you haven't got much color study under your belt, it helps a lot to use reference for your color even when applying it to drawings from from imagination.

This is a retarded question, but should I feel bad for using the undo button constantly? I haven't drawn traditional all that much and just jumped onto learning with a tablet. Is using the undo going to actually hurt my learning process? I feel like if I was drawing traditional (and of the bit I have done of it) I would just be erasing lines all the time. Is it that much different?

>> No.6842772

>>6842722
You're a beginner so you shouldn't feel bad about making mistakes. It's completely natural and is to be expected. You should only feel bad if you make the same mistake over and over and not trying to learn from it. Making mistakes and fixing them is where the learning happens. The idea is to train your hand-eye coordination and mark-making skills so that you can place lines easily and without thinking about it so you can focus on the higher level stuff.

Depending on what you mean by constantly undoing, every couple of strokes or 50 times for each line? With deliberate practice you will become more accurate. Over-use of undo is certainly a crutch and leads to bad habits down the line. You can use the ghosting technique (hover your stylus and practice the stroke a couple of times before doing it for real), or a using sketching type of brush with opacity/flow on pen pressure so you can make lighter strokes to slowly build up the line.

Traditional has a lot of advantages people take for granted, like that everyone already has plenty of practice with pencils/pens from school, great feeling tools, no lag, instant response time etc. Digital actually has a lot of disadvantages and a higher learning curve, so make sure to take advantage of the perks like undoing and layers.

Erasing traditionally takes a lot more effort than undoing on digital, so your naturally try harder to get it right the first time so you don't have to waste time erasing it. Some mediums can't be erased too, which naturally trains you to be more deliberate with each stroke. You can use a similar method to help train this skill too by deactivating the undo keybind and using an ink-like brush. But I wouldn't recommend this for a a complete beginner.

Thank you. I did not know either. It's not uncommon to massively underestimate the length entities will go to preserve their image or control, especially from the perspective of autism where all this monkey nonsense has absolutely no value.

Unfortunately, I am extremely vulnerable to stress. They were able to exploit me as a punching bag for significant amounts of time by hoovering me while I was suffering from a life-threatening condition. Narcissists are addicted to sources of excessive admiration, and like other maladaptive urges, pathways providing sensory rewards are systematically reinforced, even at the expense of victims.

I've been exposed to everything, overt, covert, and antagonistic narcissism: isolation, guilt tripping / shaming, lying, projection, emotional blackmail, physical blackmail, sycophancy, gaslighting, provocation, doxing, mimicry, dismissal / silent treatment / stone walling, backhanded compliments, smear campaigns, false jokes, veiled threats, triangulation, dehumanization / labeling / namecalling, hoovering, manipulative catch-phrases, excessive praises / love-bombing, negative reinforcement, ridiculing, hurt-and-rescue, out of context quotes, empty promises, doxing, diminishing harm / incredulity acts / invalidation / minimization, misplaced burden of proof, deflection / diversion / evasion, black-and-white rhetoric, bandwagon / group-think / conformism, victim blaming / causal inversion, victim playing, doublethink, moving the goalpost, etc

The manipulators seek the double advantage of being able to do wrong, of being able to have their will, of letting their passions rage, and the hypocritical advantage of seeming to be good, helpful, or supportive.

The psychopath who ruined my life and engaged in perpetual attacks and mockery while I was agonizing very close to death, linguistically correlates with 'snss*uci', mainly since they imitate me a lot, and unsurprisingly appear to entertain extreme narcissism even here. They probably got praises from other normies and convinced themselves they could get away going all-in, unbounded deceptions and exuberant lies, on victims, and they were right. I am completely powerless. Being actually autistic is insanely difficult to live with, and far from the titles and labels narcissists sometimes deceptively push onto themselves.

Primitive narcissistic supply abuses are the antithesis of love. Art is about giving, not taking. Or at least, in an ideal reality that will never exist.

What's the difference between western and eastern artstyle besides obvious extremes?
I've noticed rules for [d or h] and aco both have a rule against one of them each but when I looked inside it's practically the same thing but aco has more 3d, anime stylized art of cartoon characters and surprisingly more pedo content.(I'd expect the other ones to have more of that)
Either people see something I cannot see or those really are buzzwords as I've been always saying.
Google doesn't help either. It just throws at me some old realistic paintings or normal dragon vs asian dragon but both in the same style.
Ic seems to also be in constant war over it but people mean pretty much the same thing unless they go for extremes like generic cheap animes vs classic style cartoons or take some modern woke trash series as an example of western and claim victory while their example had a slightly modified anime style with having woke trash story/characters that destroyed it completely.
Same as that for comics in ic.
Generally 4chan seems to be polarised by this "conflict".

Any good faith answer and example are appreciated. Maybe I just cannot see it like some people apparently cannot tell generated images from art.

>> No.6850327

If it looks more like "cartoons" it generally goes on /aco/. If it looks more like "anime" it goes on /h/ etc. A lot of the non-Japanese stuff on /h/ gets deleted by jannies if you take the time to report it for "Western artwork". What goes on /h/ is a slowly but constantly changing thing and it certainly isn't the same as in 2007 when /h/ was almost exclusively Japanese artists and the western online art world consisted of DeviantArt. Today you might find a lot more stuff by non-Japanese artists on /h/ which would be in line with the anime industry at large where you've got a lot of western web animators doing genga for anime productions.

> or those really are buzzwords
They aren't, it's just that you'd need an essay to really describe the different shapes and abstractions between typical western stuff and anime. Unspoken rules

>some people apparently cannot tell generated images from art.
I suppose you're still quite young? What constitutes art is in the eye of the beholder and generated images are currently being integrated into many professionals' art. Life goes on

eastern = anime.
simple as.
the average wanker can't tell apart "eastern" art from "western" art. many asian artists could paint like picasso but nobody gives a fuck about that.
anime is an entertainment a.k.a. popular industry like cartoons. that's what matters.
western = cartoons popular in english
eastern = cartoons popular in japan/for weebs
japanese cartoons have different economic incentives/local culture and that's why they look different
if you're a fan of a japanese cartoon and you draw fan art, your art will look like anime
I can't speak japanese so I post porn on pixiv without text. every time I see an anon posting my drawings on another site like I'm japanese it makes me laugh. I'm western but they can't tell because I don't add text to the images!

His stylised examples look bad because he's not a cartoonist but the principles are sound. It's the relationship between the proportions, basically (like in your picture, Aaron Paul's face is relatively short, and the likeness is maintained even though the artist gave him a more idealised sharper jaw, or pic where just the face shape alongside the high forehead and hairline sell it as Odenkirk even though the face is pretty cutesy and simplified otherwise)

correct me if i got your question wrong.what you trying to say is that you feel resistance to start the activity and want some help to make that easy.
i cant think on specific but you can think about ways to make the activity of drawing more light and aproacheable by making it easy, for example i want to draw at least 5 or 10 minutes everyday, lowering my goal of the day and it takes the weight of starting, so if im tired someday i can just scribble and call it a day but it will count to form a habit, or i can extend those 5minutes for hours because its not enough.
i start doing some copy or draw some boxes and poses to warmup

But you need to learn the base level, medium-specific skills first so you can apply those principles. Getting comfortable with your new medium is the first stage. I think I am starting to reach the point where I ought to incorporate trying to make original pieces and more complete pieces into my routine instead of practice and sketches. Mostly because I have stopped feeling quite as ashamed of my work. What sort of routines do you take for warming up?

I do post my work here. This is where I started out and the reactions are generally the same. I get no comments or excessive crabbing 9/10 times and that's how it's always been

I currently use Krita. Is there any reason to switch to CSP? I'm not poor, but I'd still rather not waste $50 if it doesn't make anything better (I won't even consider the subscription version)

Does anyone know of a digital artist that has perfect the look of actual animation cels painted with vinyl? Just looking for inspiration, I know how it could be done with custom brushes and textures etc, not looking for advice.

Reverse image search, use the crop function with google lens. Yandex is sometimes better.

What is the most efficient, logical and/or automated way to do flat colors for your comic in the year 2023? I'm open to any and all software that you think works the best. Thanks!

Try Krita's colorize mask.

I draw anime manga fanart.
I'd like to avoid using both if possible.
I'm afraid I would end up spending more time on "marketing" than on drawing.

I have two 4:3 canvas sizes: 4000x3000px and 3840x2880px. The first is an arbitrary choice, and the second is based on multiples of 120 found in standard resolutions. Which is better, and why? Would the latter scale more cleanly when resized for different displays?

Pixiv then, that way only TRUE FANS [of the franchise] will find your artwork.
>>6864097
Many artists just use whatever, but I preffer standard resolutions for some reason. Though you could always crop/pan and zoom so it's whatever.

Is it common for women to have nipples on different levels like here?
I've never seen a naked woman in real life, I'm saving myself for marriage

>> No.6865376

>>6865371
Yes it is rather common because the breasts themselves are quite commonly noticeably asymmetrical. Large asymmetries aren't rare either. As far as specifically for nipple placement, that varies a lot too. Might be easier to notice on men.

Does sprite descaling always distorts pixel art even if resized by even numbers?

Let`s say 108x140 sprite should normally be scaled down without distortion to half it`s size? Right?

>> No.6865701

>>6865681
You'd think that but for some reason it doesn't work like that in this simulation. Things only look sharp in 1:1 scale. If scaled down you'll have to trace over it to make it look sharp again.
