Pixiv was good until all of the deviant-art tier artists showed up. The search system doesn't filter out accounts you don't want to see, instead they just become a blank box you still have to sift through to the stuff you want to see. Pixiv has become unbearable since westerners started flooding it with their crap art (if you had any decency, you would stop tagging your shit so it wouldn't show up when I try to search for 巨大娘). The issue with comments is that the notification feature is bad for it. Someone could've commented on your illustration, and you wouldn't know about it for years. But aside from that, I've spoken to many Japanese writers on Pixiv, since their notification feed isn't as messy as an artist's feed (they barely get likes and bookmarks).
