If you're that paranoid, you could install it via Chocolatey (https://chocolatey.org/install).). Then type in "choco install drawpile" in the command prompt or PowerShell. These packages from Chocolatey can be more trustworthy.

It is good to remember that the canvas is 9500 x 9500 so you can make your drawings quite small without losing any quality whatsoever-and it's preferable to have a dense canvas with lots of drawings. However I think it's okay to push it a little bit too, the dynamic of larger and smaller drawings can be appealing on its own and a new canvas can always be made. People should just use common sense, be considerate and use their best judgement. If you're zoomed in to 100% that means you're looking at a 1920 x 1080 area (give or take a few hundred pixels in either direction for the menus), so just be aware of that and draw accordingly.

I'm sorry to hear that, not sure what the issue might be. With Windows it's almost always the dreaded Windows Ink setting that throws everybody off with how it messes with pressure sensitivity and such. I don't know enough about Macs to be much help here

Yeah I saw you were trying to draw, I guess Windows Ink definitely isn't the culprit this time but perhaps it's another eccentricity of MacOS causing issues. i like the photorealistic gradient as well as the tension on the bra string. i think a face would suit, but i guess you were going for a different feel. perhaps add some grass for environment so it doesn't look like it's floating? these are just some suggestions, but you're way better than me at colouring that's for sure.

No real issues with the performance even at the canvas size we operate at. However we've had at least one user have problems with the beta version (client side only for now)'s brushes getting scuffed post cache reset unfortunately but that problem seems to have been abated for now.

As has been apparent from the beginning, there are quite a few extremely strong contributors here. I won't go so far as to say I don't prefer to see the work of an artist with a high technical ability and acumen, and I feel extremely pleased and privileged with the kind of hard working, experienced artists that predominate this community thus far. However-and I guess this is my fault-initially I'd only asked that people draw with us, and never once suggested that they must be of a certain technical standard to do so. In the future as the Drawpile continues to grow and canvas real estate comes at higher and higher premiums, we will likely have to make the tough decision of being a bit more selective or even having multiple canvases for logistical reasons, but I don't think we're quite at that point yet.

I don't get the impression this guy is a troll. He has made some mistakes in Drawpile etiquette-but he seems cordial enough, and has a good attitude in general. Going forward I'd ask that he draws smaller because it's something that's come up more than once now, and it's a valid criticism. The canvas is 9500^2 pixels, so if a piece takes up an area larger than your screen vertically, horizontally or especially both at 100% magnification I'd prefer it to have a little meat on its bones, if you know what I mean. That King Boo drawing could have been a quarter of the size, perhaps less, while being mostly unchanged otherwise. You see what level of lossless quality and detail you're afforded with this big canvas with some of the other people's smaller drawings here, and you should plan your own work accordingly.

I'd like to believe we don't need to have some fastidious ruleset in place, things have been great so far overall without having to micro-manage what people are doing for the most part, so let's keep it going.

Imo it's fine if it's drawn in the drawpile software. I think that should be the only limiter. It allows for more varied art too, especially from shy folks or if say someone tries to join new servers and just happens to draw something nice in one.

It's because the server isn't up to date. Some brushes, even outside of the beta brushes, will lose some aspect after a reset. I find things like a marker brush with pressure opacity tends to break for me.
It would be really nice if the server was updated. I've seen other folks do it and it doesn't seem difficult. The biggest problem is just something like this where people's art totally changes because of a reset.

Always, ALWAYS, save your art before you leave and double check all drawings after resets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has a point. I feel like we should bring back the room logo but also state how tall and wide said logo is in small text underneath so people have a reference to work from. Most people don't even know the canvas is like 12kx12k in size. Easiest way to avoid this is to not draw bigger than the biggest drawing but that doesn't always apply the way one would like.

The only other quick way I find is posting a sketch to thread where it easily tells you the image dimensions. Eventually an experience drawpile user can eyeball based on their practiced brush settings, but newbies have essentially no way of knowing this.

Some servers say to stick to a specific zoom % but that doesn't work when people have varied monitor scales

Incidentally we're going to bring the Theme of the Week/a logo back for the upcoming new canvas. The themes were a popular feature on the old /loomis/ drawpile and I think they do help people with idea generation when they feel like they've run out of steam.

Unfortunately, I was informed by someone that it might not be a good idea to upgrade yet, there are problems associated with the Beta that aren't immediately obvious. Chief among them is that apparently, should the server be upgraded, anyone not using the beta wouldn't be able to join without first upgrading to the beta, themselves. This wouldn't be a big deal normally, but it supposedly doesn't give them any kind of warning or prompt about it.

The upgrade will happen eventually but in the meantime I appreciate everybody's patience while we navigate this situation
