I'm not a character designer but ive noticed every character design I like has a stand out fmmick or accessory to it

For batman its his cowl with pointy ears
For guts its his big ass sword
For this character its his goggles.


What's the thing about this character that stands out the most or which part do you wanna emphasize? Is it his weapon? Add more detail or make it cooler.

He uses a guandao, an eastern weapon, but also wears sabatons. He has a random chemical resistant glove on one hand, random floating shoulder plate and nondescript superhero clothes. Don't know what you're going for here. Black samurai or black knight aesthetic, choose one.
The holes in his clothes are random and too conveniently placed. I'd make them look like they're from a specific scenario. Incision-like cuts could signify a clawmark for example. Maybe add scars underneath or remove a sleeve.
His legs seem overly protected compared to his top. I'd replace it with some type of lighter armor or add heavier armor on top.

the knee pads make him look a bit like a toy, make them more detailed/ realistic. put something of the same metallic hue on the belt, itll make the design come together more nicely. same with the cloak, it looks like its hanging onto nothing.

Avoid clothing colors that are too similar to skin tone.

For people with dark skin tones, clothes in warm colors (e.g., orange, pink, yellow, red, etc.) are the surest way to go.

Bright, bold, and warm is by far the easiest way for people with dark skin to stand out.

Maybe put some brighter colors here and there, being able to unironically wear bright red, pink or yellow is one of the rare perks of being black, might as well use it.

At least I feel like the belt or cape could use it instead of having colors this similar. that'd help make his pose more readable during fight scenes I think.
