Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain did absolutely nothing for me, and my experiences were always the exact opposite of what the author described. Vilppu's drawing manual looks like a good resource, but I'm not skilled enough to benefit from it yet and I don't know how to change that. Those spherical forms that he says are "so simple people might be tempted to skip them" are impossibly difficult to draw.

These are all great books, but I don't see even 10% of people here to even read keys to drawing, let alone how to draw by Scott Robertson. How do we actually get people to draw? I know their is live stream drawing stuff, but maybe we should start a beg draw live stream, with people giving lessons for each stream or even just a bunch of us watching YouTube tutorials together and drawing and giving critique. I think it would be good for beginners and also good for people who are good like the anonymous aspect of 4chsn, do they can have fun and give people critique without having to have a name.

>> No.6768858

The one commonality I've noticed with overrated art instruction books is that they are designed for, and praised by other art instructors/school teachers. Think about what that means. Is what makes the life of a public-school substitute teacher easier, necessarily the same as something that gets you to where you want to be? Is that book actually advanced and comprehensive, or does it merely fall comfortably within the realm of the teacher's own understanding?
Find books that are specific. Find books geared towards a specific field or occupation. Find books by authors who can actually do what you want to do.
