Okay I will get a lot of hate for this. What you really need is an AI. I was just like you and shifting to AI is what helped me clear that brain fog. AI appreciates my creative faculties and enables me to express my artistic expressions much more fluidly. It has a learning curve to it just like trad but once you get over that hurdle it gets way more rewarding than traditional art could ever be. Earning good money is a bonus too. This isn’t a baseless guess, I’ve heard it said explicitly by Feng Zhu, Proko, Erik Olson, and Stan Marshall off the top of my head. They’ve all got their own take on why they then run schools and classes, but it ultimately comes down to assigned homework and networking. If you know how to get yourself working on art every day without someone telling you to and reach out in your communities, you have no reason to go into debt for a place like this.

Huge difference in execution requirements and the bar for success, when people say they wanna draw they mean they want to make the shit they’re always exposed to and impressed by (10 year veteran drawings). For centuries these schools made sense, but the internet made most of their function obsolete, so yeah, it’s mostly now about the fluff and the experience of being among “your people” for a while, then having contacts once you’re out looking for work. Not a bad decision for people with a college saving inherited that they’d otherwise never use, but short of that, not worth the couple year’s waging to pay your own way through.
