Keys to drawing is the best /beg/ book there is. Work through it and do the exercises, by the end of it you'll be able to better draw what you actually see. After that pick up any figure drawing book/course that's usually recommended here: Vilppu, Loomis, Huston, Hampton, etc. Doesn't really matter who you start with, your figures will look like crap for a very long time. Draw daily, do timed poses at quickposes com. Don't get discouraged if it looks bad, drawing takes a lot of time to learn, but you'll see improvement with time as long as you draw as often as you can. Gl

Depends on your definition of decent. Took me about three months to be able to do this, but I was grinding fairly hard.
Since you know what you want to draw, it won't take more than a year as long as you put the work in

You should also just copy other artists there and pixel art is just trying to represent something as best as you can in a very very tiny space. However, you should probably pace yourself a little, dont try too hard on both and end up being being good at neither

First and foremost is to get a good understanding of human anatomy, you have to understand the structure of the meat underneath. There are plenty of artists in this genre of drawing hot buff women that have made guides just like this one. I recommend Oddsnail, they have quite a few guides like this.

>> No.6744804

>>6744789
This is not true at all, you need to learn how to draw first by getting at least a slight grasp on the fundamentals and improving your observation. Then you need to learn the basic proportions of the human body. Anatomy like this comes much later

>>6744804
I guess I got lost in the terminology, I was under the impression that anatomy was a wider term that included proportions, facial and body structure and more. But of course fundamentals like perspective and understanding the porper use of angles, distance and 3d space are crucial for any artist and are just a given for no matter what you are trying to draw.

>> No.6745052

>>6744845
A beginner wouldn't know that though, they would think your images are what you're referring to, and that's far too advanced for someone that's prebeg, really. I agree with you generally though

tl;dr
>get accuracy to 80%
>learn the basics of gesture and construction
>steal a process from a better artist
>use that process to conduct studies of other artists
>use what you learn from those artists to conduct photo studies
>do memory drawings of all your studies to enforce those lessons
>gradually deviate from references to practice imaginative drawing

You should use a reference picture to draw muscles. I personally use myself as a reference, and I also save a lot of bodybuilder pictures from Pinterest to use as references. I recommend checking out Sketchfab / anatomyforsculptors dot com and using their 3D figure viewer to draw/learn anatomy.

I started with hutson, the best imo but his book is too short. then I went through morpho simplified anatomy and then morpho muscular bodies, copying from both the books and photographs. for gesture I would suggest hampton or vilppu (only a couple of pages of each, not the entire book). I will suggest you to do through only one source at time. if you know absolutely nothing on construction these instructions should be enough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUcYTAiCQyQ before getting into the books

Thanks!
For learning construction, I just mean understanding basic forms like boxes and cylinders, how to manipulate and rotate them, etc. I don't like Loomis desu, I prefer Hampton and Bridgman for learning the figure.
>>6746148
I'd say that's at least 80%.
>>6746273
I'm not entirely sure, I read DotRSotB a long time ago. I think I started my studies before I was truly "ready," and so I trained accuracy along with my studies as I was doing my Bridgman copies. As long as your accuracy isn't so bad that there's no point in doing your studies, you should be fine. And thanks, but if a better artist contradicts me, you should probably listen to them lol. I'm still learning too.
>>6746377

Try flipping the reference upside-down for a bit, but don't crutch too hard on this. Just use it to understand how to look for angles and shapes.
