Here, my last drawing(right) versus the one before that(left). I wish i had saved the lineart version of the girl, which was atrocious, and the reason why i started grinding. It's not particularly impressive or anything, but the left one took me about a month of tweeking, and the girl took me 2 hours to go from trash to something more decent, again, wish i had saved a pic of how bad it looked before. Also the advice was something along the lines of ''studying specific parts is useless'' or some shit like that, which is bullshit, studying specific parts you struggle with is the way to go, at least for me.

Go to art school...(if you can get scholarship) you will learn a lot and meet world class artists as your mentors and young aspiring artists as your friends. My point is this. It appears that making it as an artist here on ic is like becoming a porn artist who gets a few hundred (or thousand - if lucky) followers and a few commissions monthly to live by. Or sell a few underpriced paintings on ebay. I dont know, guys. Sounds pretty crappy to me.

The best artist here seems like the guy named Brian for what Ive seen so far, but he doesnt have an artist statement. Its like making a pretty picture with no meaning, or worse yet pretending to be a modern artist in the early 1900s when its 2023, where we are already shifted to contemporary art like in the 1950s... yikes

Its like a white guy dressing as a roman general and walking down the streets of Chicago.. kinda bizarre and silly.

Becoming a porn art illlustrator is suicidal too... you will never land a major gallery or museum exhibition like that. That was my first post in this thread, but ok here you go, I put in the same amount of effort you did, 2 head shots. This barely took half an hour. Just try to practice stuff like shapes and drawing faces in general before jumping into the deep end. And define, "one finished piece" are we talking backgrounds, a story piece or is this just a standard pin up? It's really hard to go off of when you just posted 2 cropped anime heads. Manga artists have to draw a chapter within a week or month. There's no shame in finishing a piece but fixating so much time on one will end up showing diminishing returns in the end. You can gain a lot more improvement with sketching/inking and moving on. Gain your mileage.
