Recently, I've seen the phrase "AI slop" being used not only to refer to products of generative AIs but also to certain human-illustrated works of art. For example, the works of the artist Sakimichan have often been described this way. What this means to me is that a drawing may be technically impressive but offers no intellectual stimulation to the audience. It may be the surface-level application of a concept - no deep thinking involved on the artist's part - much like an AI cannot interpret the meaning of a prompt and what story should be told outside of its rigid parameters.

I find picrel to be one such image; it's drawn exactly how I'd expect it to be drawn and nothing more. There are no elements that make my mind wander, no subtext, and nothing that makes me want to discuss it with others or pick it apart; "flat" for lack of a better term. I feel like I'd be able to prompt something very similar without much difficulty.

Despite the composition being off, this has more soul than anything on here. I don't even care someone didn't get the right LoRA for hands. It's just cool to have people using an ideas generator that you you can use for reference even if it's just for a single element in the image.

A general problem of the times. Agreed though it cannot provide substance or meaning or story. With AI, individuals will be able to free up time and the hassle of outsourcing or division of labour management to focus on telling stories instead of making one that can be interpreted from a single drawing (which has a need to come about if you're actually trying to tell a story in the first place.)
