Where is everybody?
Most drawings are ignored and it's hard to get critiques even when specifically requesting them. I thought this place was full of rabid assholes jumping at every opportunity to throw shit at a study or any random piece of work, but they too are gone. We get the occasional "finish the cat" and the OC redraw thread is pretty cool, but other than that it's pretty much dead in here even during weekends. Did discord communities win? Was the brutally honest feedback too much to handle for most artists?

I've been drawing long enough that I can give myself critiques so sharing stuff is pretty useless for me most of the time, but I still enjoy talking to other artists who are struggling and giving feedback whenever I can given my current skill level. It almost feels like a lot of people has given up on grinding. Maybe that's for the best, since it can be a miserable experience.

Truth be told, you can't be an angry retard 24/7 irl, once you're out of 4chan you must behave if you want quality spaces. The discord communities of big professional artists are often packed full of, precisely, very high quality artists, some of which may be trannies, cucks, liberals, women, black people and other nasty things you may not like, but they're great artists and there's a lot to learn from them.

Are the people you're talking to from online communities or irl? Because in my experience people irl are still trying to level up same as they were before. Online artists tend to be very distracted by social media and scrolling. They also get complacent with their skill level once they start getting a lot of likes.

I read some of his posts on archive.org but the pictures were not archived unfortunately. I guess pros and high ints have learned they can market their knowledge by offering mentorships, it's very easy to process payments these days so I can't really blame them either. But still, there's something about being part of an active community full of people striving to get better that is not easily replicated with a mentorship

I've only been doing figure drawing with charcoal for a while and I guess I got burned out. Now I'm drawing Baki characters on a tablet and I'm having fun again.
