It's called a compass

Heads aren't perfectly circular, either

Get a stick and a vine, place the stick into the centre of where you want your circle to be, now hold on to the vine and use the stick as a pivot to create your circle. Hope this helps jungle buddy.

You don't need a perfect circle to draw other forms. Being able to draw a good circle helps, but if you only allow yourself to progress in your illustration after your basic forms are perfect, you won't get anywhere.

You stole my art! I was working on this battle page for my Circles manga, and now I see someone stole my character idea.

Now I have to rethink everything.

AKA: Be careful with circle practice because it can turn into a grind.

>How do you draw consistent perfect circles?

Compass, stencil, drawing program tool, etc. You won't need to draw a perfect circle all the time and even pros use these tools to make things easier.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't practice your circles either. It's easy to do that and get trapped though. Either you worry about them not being perfect enough or you do so many that you think that's all the progress. It's a safe exercise that makes you feel like you're doing something.

>How do you draw the cranium, then?

the cranium isn't a perfect circle. In every tutorial they always end up cutting off the sides of the circle because the head is flat in those areas.

first you draw this head
then you erase some of the detailed features
then 1, 2, 3

voila

I can't freehand a circle.
I drew this skull without a reference the other day.

I failed to draw skulls from reference before.
Before this skull I hadn't drawn one in more than a year.

I don't know, just draw until it looks good. And erase it if it doesn't.
And be very loose with your sketch so you don't waste time redoing things that take a long time to draw: nip the wonkiness in the bud.

Drawing the circle perfectly just guarantees better line control that helps with less erasing, but you still need the visual library and some spatial notion.

>> No.6680090

The cranium isn't a perfect circle anyway, it's more like an egg with the sides shaved off a bit. As long as your cranium shape is vaguely spherical/ovoid it's ok.

Probably. The hardest part is looping the circle. But in general I don't have much line control. When I do those line exercises with curves, connecting dots etc. I get an okay result, but for someone who has been drawing this long I should probably be nearly perfect at this point. But I almost don't draw trad.

Easy use a compass or make one with string and something pointy

As long as we are living in a quatised world there is no such thing as a perfect circle.
