Drawing on the left is better. If you can draw, there's no reason to use AI. It will only homogenize the personality out of your work while introducing errors and distortions. AI is for people who want to press a button and see a pretty picture, not actually create something.

Indeed, you can have both. But you wouldn't want the one on the right if you could make the one on the left. Frankly I think you can use anything to make art. I am a huge supporter of transformative work and fair use and I believe AI falls under that. That being said relying too much on handicaps and shortcuts will not make you improve. It's like using bots in a game. You might score higher but you aren't actually better at the game.

That being said I don't believe AI belongs in this board. If you aren't interested in learning and improving the skill of hand making a piece of art there isn't any point in you posting here. Topics about utilizing AI to create an image aren't relevant to hand drawn art and would get a better and more comprehensive response in /g/ anyway.

Yes sure, as most concept artists shifted from traditionnal to digital mediums. Or even engineers shifted from blueprints to Autocad. Look at the attachment of the index finger to the palm; also, the index fingernail, and how the tip of the index finger seems to pass behind the hair. The pinky is atrocious and that is more than a "shading error." It's way too thick, especially at its base where the AI apparently smooshed two fingers together. See also the attachment of the ring finger to the palm (that weird dovetailing), and the groove that seemingly encircles the entirety of the digit at the last phalange. The lengths/thicknesses of the fingers are also fucked up, so that the ring finger appears longer than the middle finger, etc.

Not solved, by a long shot, even with the extra work of using control net. An artist could just draw the hand in a few minutes.

of course it is, it is created by data of countless pros. Also it is still fucked up. The pinky finger is higer than the ring finger, which you should see why this is wrong if you just look at it and the nail on the pointing finger is a whole different thing.

But you wouldnt see that because you never even tried to draw a hand and need to commission a database.

Yeah and it used to be muh non-asian genes threads and muh aphantasia and muh adhd and any other bullshit excuse you can think of.

Realistically the only thing we have to ignore these threads Sage em and contribute to the other threads harder. Reply to everyone actually drawing not BS like this.

Now yes, I will shut up here and take my own advice.

At this point people aren't really concerned about getting their jerbs terken, because AIslop is uncopyrightable and it's not really good for anything but semi-random pwetty pictuwes.
The most damning thing is that, by design, imagegen algos are designed to exactly recreate data that they're trained on and associate tags to it. This data is "remembered" as coordinate points within the dataset's latent space. As a side effect, when you pick a point between the points associated with "originals", you'll get an interpolation of them. When you prompt, the image generator will pick points associated with the words and generate them- like an image search. Datasets are basically the biggest libraries of photobashing resources ever made. Also child porn, but that's neither here nor there.
>inb4 b-buh how can a b-bajillion images f-fit in such a small size, haha checkmate
The same way that Minecraft can "fit" a near limitless number of worlds each weighing in at around 50k TB each, or the game .kkrieger can fit an entire fully 3D FPS game into a file smaller than most .jpegs- procedural generation. Like I said already, image generators are trained to recreate input exactly- except since there are so many of them, the sea of interpolation space is so vast that the originals are almost impossible to find by chance, which is what the creators want. In fact, being able to find coordinates corresponding to an original is considered a problem.

>The proportions are all fucking wrong
different people have different proportions. You're one of those niggas who say it's wrong because it's not like in the book.

>The pinky is atrocious and that is more than a "shading error." It's way too thick
See the above. It's a burly man with burly proportions. The pinky is thick because it fits the character.
Everything else you say it's either nitpicking or straight up wrong.

lmao. Every time one of you tries to argue about the inner workings of AI, it's like watching a caveman trying to explain why it rains. There's no photobashing, don't be retarded. It learns a probabilistic distribution when denoising an image. That means they learn how likely it is to observe certain patterns, features, colors, shapes, etc. There's no copying, there's no pasting. And the rain isn't caused by you rubbing rocks together, Ugg.

Here's a paper on it. Have a fun read.

Why the mental gymnastics?

Why cannot you people just admit that AI would be shit without pre-existing art works?

I would be a bit more respectful if you at least admitted that fact

Taking artistic inspiration and learning human to human is worlds apart from a machine doing it and yet you people keep bringing it up as if its a valid argument. Either you don't really understand nor appreciate art or you're being maliciously disingenuous. Its photobashing with a convenient few extra steps so you can feign innocence while robbing the art community wholesale. Also we'll read your little paper if you draw us a passable hand :)

the very fact that you need to actually tell the machine which type of image you want, and guide it even more so is why it's different from a human taking inspiration and having the agency to do so for whatever they'd like. I don't know why you'd go so far as to say AI models somehow have sentience all of a sudden to learn and take inspiration, but this is like the most basic of shit arguments that doesn't make sense that have been brought up months ago.

>"Thank you for the feedback, we will fix it in the upcoming update"
This is what you get, you could have written an article telling people how AI will affect the artist community, the direction of the arts, and many more, but you chose to aggressively find flaws in the AI tech that is currently under development, acting like a beta tester
Yes you regain your artist's dignity for weeks, but you will lose it all in 10 years.

>you chose to aggressively find flaws
aggressively? these things stick out like a deformed thumb to trained artists.
>but you will lose it all in 10 years.
in ten years I hope AI can take my drawings and bring them to life on my page through AR. prompting drawings of characters on screen and doing it that way is not as magic. seeing MY drawings live, that's a whole 'nother level to seeing my "prompts" live, you get that right? I will step into MY paintings as fully interactive VR worlds. real artists win in the end.
