As AIfags usually do, both had lied when submitting these images.

The OP pic was submitted as hand-painted to a local art fair, hardly an "art competition", and the submitter later admitted to it being AI generated on discord or something.

The Sony World Photography Award image was also submitted as just a photography and the origins weren't disclosed. I think I even saw one judge commenting on how it was unacceptable when it was later found out.

I'm not even sure why OP pic was brought up because it was still mocked and debunked the year that happened.

the guy was a known photographer who's been in several competition in the past. they don't check each work they just look at his name and expect an actual photograph. The guy only admit that it was ai after he won and that he supposedly was trying to send a message. that they are not ready for ai. people will flood fake shit that are made with image gen and trying to pass it off as something legit.
