If you are an /int/ermediate or /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the drawthread with fundamental exercises.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS wide using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in MSPaint

READ THE STICKY:

TRY TO BE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK.
When giving feedback, avoid vague "advice" - point what's wrong and try to give the anon you're quoting a clear direction to improve their art (study heads < watch THIS VIDEO about head structure, read THIS SECTION of THIS ARTIST'S BOOK, etc).
You, feedback seeking anon, should also try to be clear and concise when asking for critique/help. When posting your artwork, say what you want help with, and what's your goal with the study/artwork.

Things that stand out the most to me: her ankles look broken and swollen rather than anklebones, and her entire right lower leg (left in the image) is misshapen, as if you didn't even try. Doesn't properly connect onto the foot either unless she broke it.
Inconsistent thigh thickness.
Arms look fine-ish, but you should watch for the lower arm/wrists. When the hand rotates sideways, viewed from the front, the arm is more flat. Basically, you drew the lower arms as they'd look viewed from the front, they should thin out more if rotated to their side.
Hair color also too dim, easily blends with the background.

Depends on what you want. Read some gore hentai, or look up some toon gore, with those sliced cartoon-meat characters and zippers and brains (furries love them).

Look up anatomy diagrams, just type human organs and get a feeling for where they are, their shapes.
If you're going for realism, watch some dissection or surgery videos, it's not hard to find them even on Youtube, especially on animals.

Go to /gif/ and watch rekt threads, the Internet is your oyster.

Read Kago Shintarou for some "tasteful" gore.

>>6576638
Creative design, but not enough thought on the cat's shapes.
The spear with creatures is awesome, then the cat has a simplified, uneventful, even lopsided shape to it.
If you've flipped it already, consider drawing a rougher silhouette of the character/parts and see how you'd simplify shapes like the head, lantern-holding paw and feet. Once you see the simplified shape, try to make the complex one.
Also the sleeves should help the flow, but they're distracting.

>>6577215
Yeah, that tutorial is basically "just draw the rest of the fucking owl", but it's not wrong.
You just need MORE boxes.

Learn to draw basic shapes and then break your anatomy study in more shapes than 2 cubes. The 2 cubes is for when you're already advanced enough to visualize the 3D form of the rest of the body sitting on top of it.

Do practice winging it, though, don't stay in your comfort zone for too long!

the beg books taught me that lines dont exist alone. to properly do your exercise you need composition with two objects: one light, one heavy. So in comparison you can see the big differences in line weight. Take your pics with weights and draw under it squeezed pillow. that will do it

>> No.6577975

>>6577964
Well the Morpho series are more like art reference books rather than an art instruction book, so you will need decent drawing and self-studying skills for it to be useful. The creator said it's designed to used for quickly looking something up when drawing from life. That is also why they are printed at A5 size, to be small and portable. You can use them to learn by analyzing the images while copying them, comparing them to photos/life, re-drawing them from memory, trying to apply the same simplifications to your own drawings etc.

Isn't the OP pic evidence that 'just draw a box!' for character perspective drawing is complete bullshit? It would literally look better if you took the time making all of those useless constructions and instead just focused on making the figure look good. Like I can't imagine that there's much use for this except for extreme angles of depth. This would be better by speeding up the drawing by using simple construction and then using the extra time to clean up the figure and make sure the proportions are actually correct.

He is essentially telling you to have a grasp of form (the creation of, then addition and subtraction of, and finally the "building" of a figure from believable forms) before anyone reasonably would (imo). I say that because the book (FWAP at least) is something you'd expect a total beginner who hasn't doodled and stumbled upon forms randomly to grab. So you go in blind and end up symbol drawing the heads because realistically you'll draw his examples and maybe have like 50, max, under your belt before you try moving on and nothing looks good. Once you realize he wants you to think in 3d you can take a step back and do something for the turbobeg like drawabox, get that "3d brain," and Loomis FWAP book or Head and Hands book is much more discernable. I guess people were smarter back then or maybe I have cheese brain syndrome or something because I was one of those who had to take like 90 days of boxes and spheres and crap before 3 dimensions became somewhat visible in my drawings, and I had a mind to actively construct the illusion.

did you actually draw this yourself? did you use vectors? its so cool and eery looking. Easy improvement would be pushing values more so the forms are more obvious: making shadows darker. If you can feel the form you can shade. Simply decide from which direction source of light comes and then shade the forms accordingly

still going through Brent's course, didn't get much done today
I think a big part of why I'm struggling right now is that I'm not drawing for fun, and I find drawing in pencil to be pretty frustrating (and it's not even my preferred aesthetic)
I retried drawing a fish in pen and was more loose with it, and ended up quickly drawing 3 and feeling more pleased with them
seems clear to me now that I should be drawing subjects I find cool in a style I think is cool, alongside the course, since it will actually get me drawing more (and drawing much more in-case I get filtered by the course for a day)
pic related is the sort of aesthetic I'm shooting for, more colorful, loose and simple than the sort of drawings I have to produce in the course

Some people hover their hand the whole time so that your pinky won't touch the paper/canvas. A lot of trad artists have to do this so that they don't smudge their work. Doing this for long sessions can tire out your shoulder. Others wear drawing gloves so you can glide your pinky/side of your palm on the paper/tablet.

The wrists look like they're melting. Ankles too. I'd suggest studying how arms and legs are actually put together. Even if you want to keep a semi-cartoony style, it's easier to keep consistent if you know what you're stylizing.
I feel like the pussy and anus might be too visible and detailed compared to the rest of it. I get that you want to draw attention there, but it looks a bit tacky.
The eyes look like they're flat textures on a surface. In reality, they're spheres sunken into the skull, and you can see this simplified in the ref. The cheek and brow bulge out, enveloping the eyes. They're not anatomically realistic, but they're clearly inset in the face, and not painted on top of it.
