Order of the stick is kind of an anomaly. It's business model isn't going to be useful to other people.

The comic is a 20 years old stick figure comic, and it is a parody of D&D 3.5. I think it got its reader base through making fun of that edition of Dungeons and Dragons.

The comic started in 2003, It's definitely still popular, but the thing is that it got popular way before modern internet settled into its current shape. It's kept its popularity despite that, but it became popular in a very different environment. The webcomic market has completely changed since then.
