Humans won't be able to compete against it in around 5 decades at all. Compared to AI chess where most humans can't beat any of the best AIs even though it took decades for AIs to get at that level, for AI art it is also only a matter of time before it's not only faster but better than anything a human could ever possibly create. I'm throwing the towel and moving on to something more physical because robots are still expensive to mass produce

I feel we're rushing a bit too much in this AI thing. It can never be more than what we put into it and we're feeding it the things we collectively want and pay attention to. Nothing bad there in itself, but then think about the things the modern person finds salient: entertainment, consumer products, social status, easy animal pleasures (food, sex), money, etc. AI is going to optimize for that and reflect it right back to us. I don't really see the utopia techbros seem to believe in. AI is gonna make a lot of money for a few people and there's no way it won't be used for control in all aspects of life(and likely in deviously subtle ways) as it simultaneously feeds us shiny new things to look at
