Why are we incapable of drawing an appealing figure? There has to be something fundamentally missing or wrong with us, I don't think I've ever seen a discussion about learning an appeal here before so with that being said do you develop an appeal over time? Is an appeal a learned trait or is it inherited? What does one need to do to gain an appeal that which attracts others to your work and makes it memorable? Before you point out the two general threads that copies other artists I'm talking about creating an appeal and not being a clone, a shadow or a discount version from someone else that already possessed appeal. Where does appeal come from?

An understanding (intuitive or otherwise) of design principles. That's it.

Consistency in work ethic and a style that works to scratch that itch. Since you're talking about "appeal" it also helps if you're somehow sociable/charismatic in the way you interact with others, be it other artists or your growing audience.

It has to do with taste.

I dont know. I think appeal comes from having fun memories to look back on and get ideas from. If all your brain power is being used to fight off suicidal thoughts, its hard to be creative, which is needed for appeal.

Sometimes I see a picture of a character standing with their arms flat by their side and it looks more interesting than my shitty drawing of someone doing a stiff action pose. I just don't know. Maybe its just because whatever you draw doesn't seem new to you, so its hard to be impressed by the linework.

Drawing feels like being in class while the teacher is out and everyone is being rowdy, but you're just sitting in your seat, then when the teacher comes back, she singles you out and gives you detention. There's no fucking rhyme or reason to anything. You can do everything right and it looks like shit, or you can break every rule and it looks amazing.

You gotta draw 100000 times before you even think about appeal so stop baiting, faggot and get to work. Treat it as if it’s your fucking day job.

I have been here long enough to know that not one of you possess any form of appeal except for a very few rare who eventually leave because they have absolutely nothing to gain from this talentless board. Post your work.

You have to study art you find appealing. In addition to that, I don't like to draw the faces of a lot of people from figure drawing resources because I don't want that shit in my visual library.

>>6519163
Art is pointless without appeal of some type. Studying appeal is just as important as everything else.
