Reddit rewards users who post photos of themselves with tons of updoots and bot comments to encourage them to post more photos of themselves. These photos are sold as data to whoever wants it. In other words, reddit incentivizes users to post selfies of themselves because data harvesting is the only reason that website exists-just like facebook and instagram.
