What is /ALT/?
If you're looking for a place to post your cartooning then you've found the right general. This is /ic/s 1st and only merged hub where both Eastern and Western stylization can coexist peacefully, hence the double title.

Here's why....Because it's simply the best image in the entire thread. It's cute. Follows Rule of thirds. Colorful. And most of all, it's wishing me a happy new years. It's a really nice gesture to receive such an image that gives it's attention directly towards the people that receive the image... "Hoping that I will have a happy new year." Truly amazing. Sometimes that's all that really matters because death comes for us all... The artist didn't have to write that but he did. So it was worth it because it's a start towards a brighter future.

incredibly efficient lineart and simple coloring push me to yes, but some WELL AYCKSHUALLY part of me opposes it
i guess it's the really sparse hatching that you can see on every object, feels like it undermines the aspect of long beautiful curved lines that is so prominent in art nouveau

The proportions arent quite right, but you get the idea. Kind of like a Shou Tucker chimera ibis girl so that the knees will face the right direction and the boob wings come out the back.

Some more sketches of a concept I'm exploring.
His story is similar to "Superman Red Son" where an alien infant crash-lands on Soviet occupied territory and is brought up as a hero to the soviet people, also, he isn't actually red and is forced to use red dye on his fur because communism.

Great job, anon! I think if you darken the background you can effortlessly make it look even better.
When you squint everything looks more or less the same value. If you bump up the contrast between tones, you can take advantage of the really nice composition you've got there.

In that order. If you're doing an eye patch, draw the eye first then the patch over the top so you don't end up with a figure that looks like it has a genetic disorder. The hem of the stockings, waist and general perspective etc is good, you've got potential.

There's no need to obsess over everything in the guide, just pick up the things you need as you need them. If your anatomy sucks in stylized works then pick up an anatomy book because its the same thing.
But there's no need to get caught up in doing every checkbox on the guide, just do what's needed as its needed or if you have freetime and don't know what to do.

the drawing doesn't have any sense of depth or focus to it, just a character standing in a void. it makes the entire work seem unfinished.
you don't need that much empty space around the character, do you? it's just distracting and takes focus away from the character. or if you do think you need it, compose the scene around the negative space to frame the character as the focus of the scene.
there's more i can say about the composition but that's the general gist of it

These are the result of me imagining what my platformer game would look like if It were heavily inspired by Mario 64, I tried using similar shapes in order to copy his moveset but then I accidentally ended up recreating an Animal crossing character.

Fox in socks in my favorite book to read to my kid. It would be cool to make my own version. Also, i am like 90% sure dr Seuss used a dip pen. Or maybe jsut a brush. I can get eerily close to the ink style with very little effort.

I'm having a tough time trying to figure out how to draw the part where the bottom of her hair ends
The hand behind her back as well, it's supposed to be holding a stylized turkey leg from the bone but she's also meant to have a sword scabbard in the same place, I'm having a really tough time deciding which one should go there. If I go with the scabbard, where do you guys think the other hand should go? also, do you like the composition so far? I'm planning on adding flowers and moss to the rock she's standing on and a blue sky with a slight gradient on the rectangle

Start by coping the style of different artists you really like, for example how a certain artist draw hands, how another does eyes. Then mix it to create your own.
Obviously the artist need to have a similar style, you can't mix hyper realism with cartoon/anime

Assuming there's light coming from under the umbrella, the highlights on the hair closest to it could be a smidge brighter, and the bounce lighting under the hair should be darker. The umbrella also looks kinda lopsided, based on the angle of the handle.

But other than that, it's very cute, I like it a lot :)
