I have been having a problem. When I was a complete beginner I just drew and drew no matter what but it was terrible. I got into the habit of just practicing fundies and now its gotten to the point where practicing fundies is all I do. I find it hard to just get going to create a piece. Pic very much related just my recent scribbles but I never finish anything, anyone else gone through something similar?

Everything. Dont u guys have a proud heritage down there? You could go to museums, cultural hotspots, national parks etc. Draw from observations or from ur interests. Learn humanities, machineries, architecture, histories, cinemas or whatever u like. Or go on artstation and copy ideas and drawings there. Go explore the world and learn things

I am actually in collegeto become an architect. I started drafting in highschool but neglected my studies of such things until recently. I don't know much about any heritage here as im black and half my family seem to have migrated from some island and the other half from here and don't know shit. Maybe I should look deeper into the part of my family that migrated.

Could start your own IP/world and start making illustrations from it, or choose an existing IP and draw things from there, like if you like League, you could commit to finishing an illustration weekly of a different character or w/e.

The imagined boundary between "doing studies" and "making pieces" is just a mental block. Do an anatomy study, add some outfit to the character, place him in a setting, and you have a piece.

commit to a project that inspires you
make a character, an object or an environment and keep bulding from there.
alternatively, you just finish some of your doodles. color it and shade it. add some kind of bg. that's more than enough for a post
you just have to commit is all. it's no big deal, youjust have to get back into that /beg/ habit you had

its a curse. Now you always know what you can improve so finishing a piece is just too illogical. why finish something when you still have more to learn? Its an oxymoron. I end up just sitting there thinking about what to improve on, and never actually drawing. Just grinding.

this is good advice. while doodling/practicing is a better use of your time than jerking off, it's unfortunately still procrastination from getting real work done. real work performed, in the form of projects with end goals, intended audience, deadlines and all that, will be more way more fulfilling and you'll learn and grow faster

How would you adjust proportions on this figure to make the legs shorter? Could you just remove half a head on the legs and be fine? It seems like if you change one things everything else is gonna be off.

the torso and thighs imply foreshortening but the face and boot part of the legs are actively fighting it, both with their proportions and values, it looks better the more you zoom out
it's not exactly uncommon to see legs this long and thin in manga/anime, particularly stuff from the 90s but those boots are hilariously thin

before I took art seriously I was drawing fanart and random things I liked, but I threw everything away to try and salvage my adult life before I hit 30. I dont have any interests or hobbies, I dont even like drawing.
