IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN how to do a proper stroke of the pen/pencil/brush, Construct shit, Place your piece vertically so you can have an overview of your piece as well as add details, learn about shadows , perspective ecc.

You should reach a decent level of profficiency.

Doing the basics will get you atleast 50% there.

Even a lot of low begs here are head and shoulders above a regular untrained person

Also, do not spend time selecting an audiobook n shit, they usually buisy your """spatial understanding ""part of your brain rendering you half concentrated on drawing (or even driving)

Some people just can't study nor recognize what makes art. They are incapable of it, their neurology won't allow for it. I would categorize said people as being as dumb as a rock. One of humanity's greatest talents is being able to learn things from other people. It is why we are so good at things in general. You don't need to figure out how to make decent art on your own, other people will gladly tell you what they think your work is missing and how to make it better. Art is a language. And like any language you learn, you don't start talking and writing it fluently. You have to learn the grammar, learn words, grasp idioms etc. The more you do this, the more you become able to freely express yourself.

Art is a different kind of language... but it seems there is a correspondence between most english sentences and drawings. Thats why we can get illustrated books and those things. I mean, if there is a scene in a book saying "John shoot Steve", there are only so many ways you represent it (you likely wouldn't illustrate this scene as a wholesome family dinner, for instance, but it depends on context)

The "language" of art is in things like subtle variation of line weight, color choices, perspective, lighting, composition, layering, hatching, shape design. The scene you described could be drawn practically in an infinite number of different ways, but if your reading is on the level where all you can see is three elements (person 1, person 2, gun...) I guess you would be more into something like literature.

Blindly means without thinking. If someone does something cool, you draw it. No analysis, no thinking. If you mess something up, you fix it. you might spend 200 hours on the same image. By the end, you are simply able to do way more than when you began the image.

Photo studies are bad because they do not teach anything about artistic process. Many artists have a different workflow for photos than they do for personal work, or even master studies (copying other artwork). Photos should be referenced or analyzed. Copying them is often useless, unless the exact image is used for illustration purposes.

It can. Just not by people. The only teacher is nature. Go look at some nature (stuff) and draw it (stuff). That's how you learn to draw.

You can divide this up into steps, like,
1. Observe
2. Analyze
3. Make the observations and analysis part of your being.

and for that, we have three drawing methods

1. Contour drawing
2. Construction drawing
3. Gesture drawing

But ultimately, one learns to draw by drawing, and by comprehending nature, not by following advice, least of all mine.
