I went to a Russian art school and I would say at least 50% of the students were conservative. You need some of both. People just assume artists are lefty liberals, but in reality to get good you have to also aim for something bigger than yourself, learn from the old and see the divine in beauty. Everyone who makes it embodies both, except those who get government gibs to do shows and don't depend on selling anything.
