Other than the ones posted on the OP, what's a good lightweight animation program to use. I'm trudging through with PaintTool.sai but can't stand the feel of other programs' stabilizers.

>> No.6442210

not trying to sound like a crab but it's probably best to try your best without them, or you could just get Lazy Nezumi. drawing without a stabilizer gives you a lot of freedom and you don't get too reliant on a specific "feel" as you draw.
again, not to be a crab and all but it's definitely better overall

How do I do this?

>> No.6444615

I've been doing some animations in Procreate on my ipad, in general I feel very comfy drawing stuff in bed. I've however hit a dead end with Procreate now, as being unable to import audio and sync an animation to it is a dealbreaker for how I want to proceed.

I've tried Clip Studio Paint but I don't love how it's subscription only on ipad and I generally just don't like its UI, and ipad seems to have literally no other alternatives than CSP and Procreate for animating.

So here's what I would like to ask.
>Has any of you ever used Astropad Lunadisplay (or similar) to connect your iPad to your PC screen, and is this a viable way to use art programs?
>Is Adobe Animate as easy to work in now as it was when I used to fuck around in Flash 15 years ago?

If you're doing traditional a lot will come down to how you shoot it. This was something I messed around with while reading the animators survival guide. It's 21 unique frames played at 6 frames per second just to give you an idea. I'd say start with like 8 frames if you're doing pose to pose and fill in some tweens if that's not enough. refine the chin placement it follows a rigid pathing make it follow some sort of smooth arch it'll look more natural that way
the bangs have a nice delayed action to them good job : D
also i'd suggest drawing the ears as well even if they're just place-holders cause they'll help keep the head shap from warping with each succesive frame
hold the looking at camera frame for longer before transitioning into the forward leaning motion also make the head a bit farther back in that frame or push it slightly forward in the final pose cuz if you're leaning forward you bend forward slightly rather than rotation forward while being stuck in the same location
also do the eyes completely open first and add the blink after you've smoothened the movement
i get the vibe you're going for but i think you over-stepped in that bit
as is anime eyes are already notoriously difficult to place properly since their orientation depends on the camera angle rather than some defined points in space

you have long way to grow young grass-hopper

I'm looking at trying out stop-motion and thus am looking at what supplies I'll need, but I'm having trouble understanding how magnetic tiedown works. Do you attach the magnets to the puppet's feet, which are then attracted to the metal floor - but then why do you need space under the stage? A metal floor will allow your magnets to work better. I haven't used magnets but I did use a grated metal sheet where we would bolt down the puppet's feet. Your priority should be securing the puppet in place by any means necessary In my opinion it's a matter of preference. The free space bellow is so you can set the puppet in place properly from under the stage.

>> No.6491950

>>6491351
The first several frames should look like a ball (yours appears out of nowhere at speed)
Try having fewer frames and less squash when it impacts the ground
It should not slow out from the bounce, so try removing a few frames after the impact
You have blank frames, which is causing blinking; clean it up
As the ball approaches its apex, it should slow down because of gravity, so add more frames. At the top of its bounce it should become its roundest

Thank you for supplying us with the gif
How are we supposed to know how much effort this is for you?
We don't know who you are, we don't know your background.
How many frames per second, well are you on 30fps or 24fps?
Well, either way animate on 2s or 3s.
The motion is somewhat simple it can be simplified to a wave (not saying this is simple).
It seems doable though.

I think you lack confidence in it though, else you wouldn't ask here...
You could've just done it without consulting this thread.
You already had a plan of some sort.

Big respect and best of luck with it.

i tried to make it "raise faster"
>You have blank frames, which is causing blinking; clean it up
i removed them now it's a full loop
>As the ball approaches its apex, it should slow down because of gravity, so add more frames. At the top of its bounce it should become its roundest
i don't think i made it "rounder" but i tried to make it slow down when it reaches the top.

Does anyone here know how to make money off animation besides studio animation? I’m a professional animator and rigger, and I’m sick of being a wagie. After my next contract I’m gonna get a Harmony license and work for myself. I have some characters and animatics lined up but I don’t know how I’d monetize any of it.

>> No.6515312

>>6515285
youtube monetization, porn commissions/patreon, furries commissions.
last i looked (a couple of years ago) there seemed to be some freelance commercial motion graphics type character work on these marketplaces like fiverr, but you'd be competing bids with thirdies and now ai.
also saw a lot of youtube videos by people apparently doing live2d commissions somewhere.

coders are getting culled long before animators, and lets be real, animation requires way too much control for Ai to probably ever be reliable to use (especially after they get cucked out of their training data in the future). if you're actually a good animator that can get hired for doing animatics / key / breakdown frames or directorial positions, the jobs won't disappear. in-betweeners, colourists and clean-up artists will either have their job drastically downsized or taken out entirely.

there's already so little actually good 2d animated content that gets released every year, just due to the time it takes to produce. there's the very real possibility of a boom / second golden age in animation just from the speed of production we would get. i can imagine a lot of feature length, traditionally animated 2D films (not the shitty fake 2d that always takes its place)

also Ai actually understanding complex movement enough to replicate laws of physics consistently in an appealing manner, enough to compete with what humans have achieved in the past.. i don't see it happening desu, not for 10+ years at least.

what kind of projects are these south korea outsourced jobs done with? i'm a UK based animator and every project i've worked on, the entire pipeline remains within the group of studio workers / freelancers based in the same country.

plus there's a huge amount of jobs out there if you're skilled enough to not be stuck only doing inbetween work, in my experience it's far from dead.

no way in hell that part was CG in 1988, yeah they used CG in a good amount of the shots, but still mostly basic shit like hard surface and digital interfaces , but cloth animation isn't quite the pain in the ass that it would take to warrant using that method. probably an option these days but defo wasn't the case for that shot

The ball during its fall should take roughly the same time as the bounce up preceding it.
The ball is accelerating too soon and instantaneously in its fall, which gives the impression it's being slammed down like a basketball being dribbled.
