This is basically a mirror universe of the /fit/ meme where people assume lifting will make them happy.
To be successful in art (not "drawing" or whatever, ART) you have to be outgoing and extroverted. It won't cause you to make friends unless you already have a tendency to go talk with people.
Twitter is a terrible place to find art contacts as well, you'll most likely find people who spend more time tweeting their hot takes than discussing art. This is because the platform rewards people who are either skilled as hell and do almost nothing but post work, or blowhards whose posts encourage doomscrolling.

So you have to dig around a bunch to find the people who aren't obsessed with social power games. If you don't draw NSFW this is harder because artists who are strictly "SFW character artists" have a larger lean towards being immature, moralizing assholes. Artstation-esque "industry artists" get very cunty as well because they dedicated their lives towards imitating corpo concept painting, which means they're all effectively replaceable and so they're constantly trying to one-up each other while simultaneously being ultra possessive over their ideas.
