Alex Ross loves his silver age comic bullshit, mostly because he grew up with them, but he's inspired by Norman Rockwell and helped illustrate some of the greatest works of modern western comics, such as Kingdom Come. He also has great prints of other things such as the Universal movie monsters

Check him out some time. You might just find something you like - capeshit or no.
